Breast pump question

with #1 I had a gigantic baby shower and recieved all the things a new mom needs and twice as many she doesn't... I had a great little medela hand-held which I preffered to the fancy electric number that was handed down to me. Both have gone on to (many, I hope!) new mamas...
My question is this: for a WAHM who is not having a shower and is strapped for cash, is the $50 medela worth the $, over the $15 evenflow hand-held, or some other cheapy? I mean, I'm only going to use it once in a blue moon if I want to go out for an evening (or liquer up my milk supply over the holidays hehehe)... but are the bargain pumps more frustration than they're worth?

appreciate your input!

I think the medela is well worth it, but haven't used the cheapies. Keep an eye on ebay- I got my medela harmony for $25/shipping included- brand new.

Hand express or Avent hand pump over anything Evilflo makes. The one I had tore me up. I was in pain for hours anytime I used it.
I use my double electric as I work FT, but I have used my Avent exclusively for 24 hours on 3 seperate occasions for a stubborn kid who refused to nurse, to maintain supply.
I have no expereince with Medela hand pumps, but they are a quality company so I would assume they are worth it.

Well, fwiw, on the pumpmoms board I posted on when I had to EP for my daughter (she didn't latch until 10 weeks old)....

Evenflo is called Evilflo because it rips your boobs off.

Medela is great for the higher end stuff but not for the lower end.

Avent Isis gets

So there ya go....
