February Due Dates Unite: Week of June 13-20 - Page 5

Jenny,
I'm sorry that your results aren't back yet. I'll check in from work and I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

Are you a teacher too? Sounds like there's a lot of us here. What grade? I teach 5th.

Speaking of which, time to hop in the shower and pack my lunch.

I had the most vivid and bizarre dreams last night for the first time this pregnancy. Weird.

Wow Heve, your chart looks like something out of a textbook! That implantation dip is beautiful and your overall temps ARE climbing! Just remember... 98.6 is sooooo high for a morning temp!

My temps are fluctuating a bit. They were pretty steady at 98.6 to 98.9 but yesterday I lost my BBT thermometer and had to use a regular one, and I got 98.4. I was a little worried, but I'm not going to put much credence into that. I'll go to CVS today and pick up another basal thermometer. (My kids LOVE to play with it and it serves me right for letting them! I'm sure I'll find it in a few months buried in some toy bin LOL)

I started Prometrium supps last night and again this morning. I'm kind of weirded out by the whole off-label use of these and the pretty hearty debate going about whether they do anything at all. Normally I'm a type to shun medical interventions and medicines but I find myself just saying OK whatever, bring it on, because I've let myself get so freaked about the low-ish progesterone. AARRRGGGHHH. Sometimes I wish I hadn't gotten any lab tests done, kwim? Most women never get these tests and there are probably tons of them who have low progesterone or less-than-doubling betas and do just great. Sorry, feeling pessimistic today.

Good Morning Ladies.
Periwinkle I o'd on the same day I guess thats why we have the same due date. It is so cool being able to connect with so many mamas who are due around the same time. I love Mothering This morning I woke up with a terrible headache. Does anybody know what is safe to take? I don't usually get headaches like this. I drank a lot of water and it has settled down a bit. It's one of those aches that just pounds when I bend over

My almost three year old and I were looking at pictures in utereo. I told him that I had a baby in my tummy and he lifted my shirt and asked if he could go into my tummy too. It was so funny. He stuck his whole head under my shirt. My best friend is 36 weeks and is huge. So he is amazed with her belly.

I feel like I have so much to say and when I sit down to type it all goes out of my brain

Thanks for the compliments on my chart And I just changed my sig...so I guess I gradually am coming to terms with this!

Jenny - grrrr... you go get those results!! How frustrating. ~Breathe~

Christi - how cute! I'll never forget this story, while lurking on the preg boards:

She gets down close and whispers "Baby, I am going to kick you". Man, sibling rivalry already!!!

Hev: That story is awesome!! It made me laugh out loud!

So...things are looking up! My beta went from 84 on Friday to 345 on Monday. It more than quadrupled in 72 hours! Woohoo!

Here is the crazy thing. Another midwife called (a different one has called each time). She's very sweet...was the studentmidwife when Ellie was born. I was her first episiotomy...anyway, she called and thought that we were still looking at hcgs from my m/c and that we were wanting them to go down!
Unbelievable.

Oh Periwinkle, I totally know what you mean about part of you wishing you you had shunned the tests. I have definitely been feeling that way. I have just decided not to have an u/s next week. I just don't want the uncertainty of not seeing a heartbeat because it's too early. I don't want to be cast back into this web of doubt. With my first pregnancy I had planned no u/s. I had 1 at 18 weeks because I was so nervous. Anyway, I am usually a very low tech person, but unfortunately, I think the m/c really undermined my faith in my body's ability. My dh will be out of town from next Friday until 7/1. I am going to have an u/s when he gets back. That way it will be definitive. I think we all need to use the technology if it improves the outcome and is reassuring.

Lesley: I am actually a nurse practitioner in an elementary school-based clinic. I also teach nurse practitioner students at a university. Since the elementary school is out for the summer, I am just teaching. It is an online course, so I am doing most of my work from home. Do you like 5th grade? I really like that age, but I am partial to adolescents with bad attitudes .

OK...I am off to call my best friend with the news. Thanks so much for the support you guys!!

jenny, that's great news! so we'll be no temping buddies? starting tomorrow? you made some great points. and it's not like it'll change anything. what's going to happen will happen whether i'm temping or not lol.

christi, my doc says plain old tylenol. as a fan of advil for bad headaches, i don't know if it will help much bu hopefully so. that's cute about your ds!

peri i would err on the side of caution. of course i'm not as hands-off on the medical stuff as most but i think i'd rather take it and be okay than not take it and have something happen kwim? it's a tough call sometimes.

heve - hope you have a great # from your bloodtest!

lesly, i get little things her and there but then i try to explain them away. i'm not having betas so no answers there. i go on Wed. june 30 for my visit so i'll have to wait til then. if there's one, we should see a heartbeat by then. so i'll just have to be content LOL. i really don't want to have m/s but i know for me it's a good sign that i'm still pg.

my boobs are slightly sore again. maybe it's related to how much water I drink or salt or something? who knows LOL! but i'm really glad to be here right now

This is SUCH a good point. You're right - it's NOT going to change anything. I think I'm going to ditch the thermometer too! All this angst cannot be good.

Yeah. It would be really hard if something happened and I had all this guilt that maybe I could have done something to prevent it. Plus, I'm having NO luck finding anything online about any risks... just talk of "supposed" risks (increased birth defects and heart problems) but nothing in PubMed and I looked at 5 pages of articles going back to 1980!! (searched on: progesterone supplements pregnancy)

***

Now for some happy thoughts/news...

1. Boobs sore for first time. Only a little, but it's noticeable. Also, I've been feeling that tingling -- feels a little like letdown when I was nursing. Guess they're getting ready!

2. Feel queasy and sluggish today.

3. Tiredness coming back. Never been so happy to be tired in my life!

periwinkle, i'm too tired to edit the quote BUT, you're right. never been so happy to be tired LOL! i felt that tingling too every once in a while and it's cool, isn't it?

so that's 3 of us say-no-to-temping club? we're probably the last 3 left LOL.

This is me all day today....

:Puke

I hate that smiley but it is accurate!!!! I'm at work today too and hardly anyone here knows I'm pregnant, so hard to keep it under wraps.

Is it time for today's group nap yet?????

Kitty
Yep. Time for the group nap.

I'm a bit queasy. I went to eat my meatloaf, and my tummy did NOT like that smell. So i'm eating my salad. and my cheese stick.
Periwinkle, I did tons of research on it and even the possible birth and heart defects (which is apparently not any higher than in the general pop) are only seen with the synthetic progesterone, which is not what you're on. There is some studies that actually show higher intelligence in children whose moms supplemented with progesterone in early pregnancy.
Well, I'm feeling absolutely horrid today. I haven't kept anything down since last night, even water, I passed out while having my joints injected (and I've had RA for 15 yrs, I've had MANY joint injections) I'm contemplating going in and letting them put me on IV for a few hours, but with the heparin, I know I'm gonna have a huge bruise and would like to avoid that for the wedding, IYKWIM. I'm not sure what to do, I'm gonna lay down and if I'm not feeling better when I get up, I'll call, I know my OB is in surgery all day today anyway, so I likely can't speak to her until a little later.
Jenny, great news on the beta!!!!!
Denise, why does she not do betas???? They are a pretty basic standard, you could liklely go into emerg and get one run if it made you feel better.
Ok, off to lay down, I've had an insane morning.
shannon -- sorry you're feeling so poorly. i hope you do well with your wedding! it's so exciting as for my doc. it's just the make an appt. 8-10 weeks out and they don't want to hear from you other than that. she's pretty much basic ob/gyn and no fertility stuff. i think if i had recurrent problems she might but i asked last time and she didn't do it. i guess it's okay.

i'm ready for the nap too! i wanted to go sit in my car but was afraid i would truly fall asleep LOL!

i went and got a strawberry milkshake and it was YUMMY!

Gosh, I lost you gals for a while! I forgot to sign up for this week's thread and then wondered why I was not getting any email notices! Pregnancy brain! I started to feel very sick this am. Breakfast is so hard for me - I never know what I should/can eat. This morning I ate fresh pineapple and threw up for the first time! It was so painful!

I am really craving meat! That is really all I want. I also have no energy until about 2pm very day. I wonder if I need more iron since I am not taking a prenatal. I am also dizzy in the mornings.

Christi, I got one of those pregnancy headaches last night. They say it is a hormone rush. I suffered and did not take anything. I also noticed that our sons were born in the same month/year and so will our second kids - how fun!

Glad to find this thread and see how everyone is doing! Take care of yourself girls! My dh has been waiting on me hand and foot! I love the attention!
Suz
I have no energy either until 2-3. My dh just doesn't understand why I can't get going. Today I made my ds stay in the bedroom while I slept. I put the baby gate up so he couldn't leave. He had all of his toys in there to play with. He doesn't take naps anymore. I am so surprised at how tired I am all the time. Maybe it has to do with the iron. How much iron are you supposed to take?
Did you plan on having your babes 3 1/2 yrs apart? We were planning on waiting for a few more months but we were cought in the heat of the moment. Knowing darn well that I could get preg. I am so excited dh is slowly coming on board.
My headach went away after I took my nap. I didn't take anything for it.

Ok, rough afternoon, I called my OB and she had meet her at the hospital, they did some bloodwork and my electrolytes were all off, so after 3 bags of fluids and a couple doses of gravol, I'm home, with IV still in and home care coming for the next few days to give me more fluids and gravol. This bandaged up IV is NOT going to look nice on my wedding day, but she really wants me to get some fluids the day I leave for vacation. I think she was secretly wishing we'd cancel our holiday and she stressed how important this is now--basically that puking is one thing, but when your blood chemisty gets screwed up from being dehydrated that that is bad for the pregnancy. So, she's going to write a letter for me to take with me incase I have to go to hospital in Calgary.
My timing just SUCKS!!!!!
Shannon, oh no. That sounds pretty bad. I think I may have missed something in TTC and don't mean to pry, but are you sick? What are the IVs for or what are your electrolytes measured for? I'm sorry if I missed something before. Another for you.

T Re: your bruise... you could try some camoflauge cream and some face powder. I just went to a wedding 2 weeks ago and had a yucky yellow bruise on my shin from ds (no, he's not a terror, just clumsy that day with his prized metal toy tractor!). I wanted to go bare legs so I got some concealer, dabbed it on, and then covered up with loose powder matching my skin tone. Worked pretty well, just like for undereye circles!

I'm lovin this! I ought to have a genius then with TWO suppositories per day! LOL Thanks, I needed to hear confirmation on that, that is wasn't just lack of looking. Now I can embrace my little yellow darlings...
