Eek! Therapy through the school and partially vaxed. HELP!

My son will be starting speech and occupational therapy through the school district this fall. When the lady from the school district came she handed me the dread immunization form. My ds is partially immunized but I don't plan to do any more so what do I do??? I'm in Kansas and there is no philosophical exemption!!!! I'm not sure what to do or where to get any forms that I need to say that he is not getting anymore immunizations. Please, can someone help me out here? I would much appreciate anything you can offer. We also are not religious . . . as in going to a church, if that makes any difference. Am I just totally screwed???

TIA

I don't know exactly the laws in your state, but I don't think they're allowed to ask you your religion if you claim religious exemption. Others could clarify this, but if your belief system encompases the idea that your child's immune system is perfectly made, I think you can claim religious exemption and they don't have the right to pry into your beliefs.

In my state the exemption is on the back of the immunization card. Hilary is correct- they cannot question you as to your beliefs if you claim religious exemption.
Check out the Kansas info on this site:

khrisday-
On the website you provided above it states that children can be exempt if:

"Pupil is of a religion whose teachings are opposed to immunizations – the school reserves the right to require verification by the clergy of the religious tenets that preclude immunizations."

This is the part that bothers me. If they do ask for this, what do I do then since we are not actually a member of a church?

Thanks

One other policy is to not offer the information on the vaccines your child already has had and to simply claim exemption (religious or otherwise) from them altogether. Below is a link to the Kansas Exemption form. It is specifically for day care facilities, but it is a start:

KS Exemption

There are organizations such as the Christian Science church and the chiropractor-founded Congregation of Universal Wisdom

The sites they reserve the right to ask, but I wonder how many do? Can you maybe get a DR to sign a medical exemption for you son?

If you are really worried about them asking for verification of your religion I would suggest that you find yourself a Unitarian Universalist Church. UU churches aren't particularly religious, and people of all religions attend them. I am pagan and I attend one, the Reverend of the one I attend is a buhdist. There is usually a new member recognition every few months, and most UU's are very freedom and personal rights oriented. My reverend said he had no problem signing a waiver if I needed it, and he said that most other UU reverends do the same. That is at least one option. Plus you don't necessarily have to attend the church to remain a member, so you wouldn't have to be active if you didn't want to. I just thought I would throw it out there. Hope it helps.

Whatever you do, if you claim a religious exemption, do not tell them that your son had some vaccines. You can not claim a religious exemption on partially vaccinating. But, I am sure you know that...
