Hyland's teething tablet question

It seems that whenever I give ds Hyland's teething tablets before he goes to bed, he sleeps better. Is it possible that he is constantly teething, so that it just helping his teething pain, or is there something in Hyland's that would help him sleep? I don't want to be giving him a sleep aid (what, am I insane?) but if his teeth are bothering him then I don't mind giving him some relief.

Also, how long consecutively have you given these teething tablets to your babe? Should I not give it to him more than 3 or 4 nights in a row?

Any advice/experience/suggestion appreciated! Thanks.

I've never given it for more than a couple of days, but I don't know how long you can continue it.
As far as I'm aware, it shouldn't make him drowsy. It may just be, as you suggested, that when the pain goes away he can finally relax and rest.

Have you tried chamomile for teething? It seems a bit stonger to me.

tablets

Our natropath says they are completely safe.
My son got the colic tabs like everyday! lol!
The homeopathic medicine is in such small amounts... minute like 1 million per part.
I wouldn't worry about over doing it.

sorry to bump this up after so long but wanted to add that the hyland's teething tablets contain belladonna - which is a sleep aid (non-narcotic, of course). that's what gives babes the rosey cheeks too.

that's all. oh, and my girl loves 'em when she's ouchy. gobble 'em right up!

Well, whatever they are, I'm pretty sure they're not addictive...my son used them quite a bit for teething and now he can take them or leave them. We have moved on to using Tabacum instead for the motion sickness he just recently developed. Thank goodness for homeopathic remedies.

I think my ds had a reaction to Hylands teething tablets. He had a rash all over his body shortly after giving them to him and he'd had nothing else that I can think of that would have caused it. I'm almost 100 percent sure it was the Hylands because I tried them one more time and the same thing happened.

lactose

it might be the lactose.
I highly doubt it was the homeopathics themselves because they are in such small amounts.

I'm pretty sure there's coffea in hyland's teething tablets. Coffea is an insomnia remedy.

The nature of homeopathic remedies makes it impossible for you to overdose or become dependent. If your child responds to the remedy by sleeping well, the remedy just corrected an imbalance that was not allowing the child to sleep well on his own. It's safe to keep using the tablets until the child's system is in balance and no longer needs the healing stimulus from the remedy. Just don't keep giving them to a child with no symtoms. It might confuse the picture.

I think I remember reading on the Dolisos teething remedy that you can expect a child to even fall asleep after taking the remedy. I know this remedy is different but I believe it contains almost the same formula. I think you are right about your child just experiencing relief from pain and then sleepy comfort sets in, tiring work being a teething baby, huh?

Thanks so much for all the info. I am very new to homeopathic medicine, but have been impressed so far.

Ds hasn't shown any teething symptoms for awhile, so I haven't given him any tablets, and his sleep has been normal. So I think it was probably a combination of relief from light teething pain and maybe some sleep aid.
