Sleep Number Bed?

Does anyone actually have one of these? You know, the ones advertised by Lindsay Wagner, aka The Bionic Woman.................
I'm 30 weeks pg and I can' t sleep in my bed any longer. DH is also complaining about getting horrible sleep as well. Any first hand experience on these?

I so badly want to buy one. Cant' afford it right now but I definately want the king size. With my big butt, spring mattresses loose their firmness and I need a firm bed. DH wants a soft bed. So this is the best thing. I want one so bad!!!

We have a sleep number bed - we've had it for over a year now and LOVE it . By far the best nights sleep I've ever gotten in my life. They are a bit pricey but they have a 20 year replacement warranty so we figured it was worth it. We plan on getting one for our teenager soon as well.

QVC actually carries these, can you believe it? I don't know how the model that they offer compares to the entire line or if it has all of the best features, etc., but in general they tend to have pretty good prices relative to other sources. I would loooovvveee to try one, especially since we are in the market for a new bed any way, but DH thinks that it wouldn't hold up very well. I think that in his mind an air-filled mattress is sort of the equivilent to an aerobed type portable bed.

we have two, and they rock (tempur-pedic foam can be zipped inside the new ones!) by the way, they are 'select comfort'; the old ones (like mine) are adjustable, but no numbers. i really appreciate mine (if only the boys did not 'adjust' them so frequently! they love to ride them up and down, sigh.) no, they are not an air mattress. try one out at the mall (or have your dh do it.) he'll see.

if you can wait they have factory reconditioned like-new returns (new pillowtops) at half-price every fall, i get the ads. make a note to pm me in sept or oct & i'll give you the number. half-price on these is substantial.

ps if you cosleep you gotta keep 'em firm (i know you know that.) at least while they are tiny; my big ones roll into me & i have a buckwheat pillow to keep them from rolling into my belly now; it is still small enough to throw them a boob.

our sleep number bed! I only wish we would've had it when I was pregnant last year! I seriously could do an hour infomercial on this thing, I am that happy with it. I have always had sleep issues...and woke up many times a night, etc. The first night I slept in this bed, I slept in until 9 am the next day. I NEVER do that! DH did too!!

Yes, they are pricey! But we were pricing regular king sized mattresses, and to get a good one was a lot too....this wasn't TOO much more. There are several models, so you can get the one that fits your budget best. It has been worth every dollar and then some, I swear!!

We love ours!!! We bought a store model for about $300 less than regular price.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy the kind with two separate air chambers. It makes this horrible trough which affects sleeping, children in the bed, and most importantly, sex! We were lucky and able to trade ours in for a single air chamber. And make sure to ask for the "squeak kit". They actually have one called that!!! It's free and gives you material to put around the foundation so it doesn't squeak against your frame. It will be rather embarassing if you don't get one because it constantly sounds like people are having sex on it every time you move.

We wouldn't buy one now because they donate a lot of money to the Bush campaign but I digress...

Got one! Love it! Don't know what we ever did without it!

Seriously, I tell everyone I know about it. Until we got that matress, I don't think I ever had a true "good night's sleep."

What others have said...got one, love it. Actually we have a queen for dh and I and a twin for dd. That way I get a good night sleep where ever.

If you don't get one with separate air chambers, does that mean that you can't adjust each side individually? One of the things that I like about the SN bed is that DH and I could each customize the firmness. Wouldn't having one air chamber defeat the purpose? I'm confused.

Terri we have one and like it alot. I am so glad I have it this pregnancy. I dont need to put a pillow under my belly when I lay on my side now. The mattress just cradels my belly. lol I am not sure about the co sleeping thing though in it. I mean it works with my dd but she still rolls into me. For that reason I do not like it. I would not use it for a newborn though unless you and dh can set it for very firm. I bought the Arms Reach co sleeper just for that purpose. Dh keeps his side pretty soft. The other errrrrr downfall in my opinion is when you want to have sex you either have to go to his side or your side of the bed. lol There is no "middle ground" so to speak. You can make it firm on both sides and that seems to fix that problem but I am usually just too tired and make dh do all the work. rotf Too much info?

I agree with hellokitty.

We also have the 7000 series w/2 air chambers (I didn't even know that they made a single one ) and have never had a problem with sex, squeaking or squeaking during sex. LOL I also agree with thundersweet... it tends to work a little better if you have both sides firm when you want to get busy... On second thought, who wants to have sex in a bed anyway??

Okay, okay. Seriously, now. We have no kids, so the co-sleeping issue has yet to be tested. The main reason we bought the sleep number is so we could customize each side.... so the single chamber wouldn't have worked for us anyway.

We used our gift money from our wedding to invest in a Select Comfort, which I think is what you are talking about. We love it. Ours does not squeak, but we house sit for some friends with one and theirs did! I am thinking it was the bed frame, though? Anyway, it's a very comfy bed and better last us until the kids are out of the house!
