Good Article!

But she did not research the subject deep enough. We should all write to her.

She needs more information. There is potential.

Ok. I just wrote her a long letter explaining what I though she needed to know.

Won't someone please reinforce it. Those are the people we need to educate.

!

I sent her a message also!

Great to see this in the mainstream!!

I am so happy! I loved it when I first read Dr. Robert Mendelsohn in 1976!

I don't think I'd be so presumptuous as to send her a note telling her she didn't research enough & explain to her what I think she needs to know. Understand the restrictions she has to work within-- realistically she doesn't have the space to cover every bit of what she's researched & what she thinks people need to know. The bottom line is that 1) vax bullies are around and 2) it's okay to stand up to them.

I followed amnesiac's lead and wrote a letter that praised more than chastised. Even though her article appeared on a website, she may have been restricted to a certain length - I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. Here's what I wrote:

Quote:
Dear Ms. Malkin,

I want to commend you on writing your article about the medical establishment bullying parents into vaccinating their children. The same thing happened to us when we were preparing to take our daughter home from the NICU. She was delivered 6 weeks early and one week later, they wanted to give her a HepB shot when she shouldn't have even been born yet. Luckily my husband had the sense to say no. Unfortunately I regret allowing my daughter to get her 2, 4 and 6 month shots on schedule. I started questioning vaccines all together when I heard that the chicken pox vaccine is recommended at 12 months. I thought "chicken pox vaccine? What's so bad about chicken pox?" My daughter is now 18 months old and has not received any other shots nor will she.

Ironically, I recently read an article in Family Circle magazine about how pets are being over-vaccinated but I have yet to see an article about children being over-vaccinated. Incidentally, my daughter survived a bout with rotavirus this spring - it lasted one week and aside from the stench of her diapers making me feel sick, our family weathered this illness just fine.

Kudos to you for having the confidence to buck the trend and write this article.

I saw this a while back and was happy to see someone pointing out that yes, it's ok to question!

was that loud enough? :LOL

I really liked that article. More people need to know that it's okay to question doctors - they are not gods, they do not know everything. And we should never, ever allow them to bully us into doing something we're not sure about.

I saw this in my local free weekly a while back. Malkin is syndicated columnist, so she does have strict space limits. She is pretty far right on most things, which makes this article very interesting to me. Her primary demographic is the Rush Limbaugh crowd, so to have them hear this from one of their own is very powerful, IMO. And yes, she could have researched more, but her usual take on things is to skim the surface of an issue and then just go off on a tangent based almost soley on her personal experience and opinion.

I'm curious to know (since the vax issue is so vast) what info you would have liked to see her include that she didn't cover?
