Natural parenting books?

I am trying to extend my library. We sort of fell into natural parenting after our son was born so I don't have a lot of books on the subject but I'd like to get some. We have Dr. Sears the Baby Book, the Family Nutrition Book, Christian Parenting book, and the Discipline book. Oh btw my son is almost 11 months old so i don't want any books focused on new baby or newborn. I want some basic natural parenting books but also anything geared towards toddlers would be great. Thanks!

One of my all time favorites is "You Are Your Child's First Teacher" by Rahima Baldwin. It's the one book that led me to "Mothering" magazine and AP.

ps. Did you get the PM I sent you?

A must have is "Raising a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor" by Mendelsshon, and also "Natural Family Living" by Peggy O'Mara which is put out by Mothering.

This isn't exactly a "natural parenting" book because it embraces many styles, but it definitely puts an emphasis on breastfeeding, healthy living, and most of all, the respect and emotional well-being of children. It's called "Becoming The Parent You Want To Be" and it's by Laura Davis and Janis Keyser. It is one of the best books I've read.

Good books

While it is not a parenting book per se, and not what I think you meant, I thought you might be interested in this book anyway: Gentle Healing for Baby and Child: A Parent's Guide to Child-Friendly Herbs and Other Natural Remedies by Andrea Candee and David Andrusia.

And not specifically about natural parenting, but a must for the natural parenting library, The Continuum Concept by Jean Liedloff.

Right now I'm trying to read Magical Child by Joseph Chilton Pearce. (Emphasis on "trying".) Theory of child psychology, advocates natural parenting.

I just read Magical Child, it was very thought provoking. I'm half way through Kids, Parents and Powerstruggles and I think this is possibly the most important book I've read regarding creation of a harmonious household where everyone gets the respect they deserve. It is readable and doable - I'm reading a borrowed copy and I'm going to get my own and make dh read it! I also love Naturally Healthy Babies & CHildren; Birthing from Within and Homeopathy for Mothers and Babies.

I am so glad two people posted about Magical Child because I am in the middle of it and have been wanting to talk to others about it. I was going to post about it when i saw that you two already had. I think a lot of the stuff it brings up is amazing--it's hard to explain because it's so complex and encompassing--anyway, I think it's a must-read for people who want to really know what's going on in those infant minds. It's a very dense, analytic book, no light read. It got better for me after the first few chapters, at first I found kind of heavy going, but now I can see that he needed to work up to what he says later on. It really backs up a lot of other stuff I have read re: AP, other stuff about child development.
