Joining in New Skein w/o 2 tails?

Is there a way to join a new skein in when you don't have an old tail? The way the pattern I am on works, you leave some stitches on the needle and come back to them after you have cut and bound off the other part.

Wouldn't you just start knitting with the new skein and weave the tail in after??

I never tie my tails together - I just start knitting with the new color and it works just fine.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I followed your advice and it worked. I never released how addicted I'd become until I couldn't knit yesterday!

You could try this:

Russian Join

I haven't tried it (I'm still working on learning to knit with one color :LOL) but I hear it works very well!
