I am the queen of unfinished projects

Back at home I have a whole bunch of scrapbooking stuff I got for Xmas and Yule last year that I haven't touched. The one scrapbook I did make I love, but I put it together a few years ago now.

I also have an unfinished tablet-woven belt and a bunch of fabric I bought for a sewing project that I haven't even started.

Not to mention many, many unfinished manuscripts of stories both handwritten and on the computer.

I built a model rocket last weekend. I flew it once but still haven't finished painting it.

I'm starting school again soon and fear it will be all I can do to finish my homework and studying. How do you get projects done? It's not just the time issue, it's motivation. I get half through something then either lose interest or get blocked from a creative point of view. The only projects I've finished in the past year are a couple of slings, and that was while I was nesting while pg w/ DD.

I've got quite a lot of unfinished projects also. Mine stem from running into a glitch and getting frustrated. So I will put the project down, thinking that I will go back to it and finish it once I figure out how to deal with the problem. Unfortunately, I never seem to go back to these projects. I just give up and move on to something that I know I can finish.

I'm awful about finishing projects. We call them "UFO"'s arond my house...unfinished objects.

I don't really have anything that motivates me...but I have WAAAAY too many crafts going. Scrapbooking, quilting, sewing, knitting, cross stitch...I need to just get rid of some and focus on the ones I really enjoy doing.

I think it's harder for me to get things done, also, because I don't have any good organization of my supplies! I need to have them organized so I've got everything for ONE craft in ONE place, and the other crafts in their own places.

*sigh* Maybe SOMEDAY I'll figure it out.

So then I guess I'm the queen of un-Started projects!!!! I gather the materials, get all excited, and then can't find the time to even start!

I have an amazing artist friend whose girlfriend calls his unfinished projects "compost" . I thought that was the perfect term! Maybe garbage, but fuel for the next creative adventure!!!!! I find that using that term actually helps my attitude when I get frustrated!

My dh is obsessive compulsive (we joke about this, but I swear I think he is :LOL) so he keeps my stuff organized for me It drives him nuts when my stuff gets all screwed up so he'll be like "Hey, babe....want me to help ya get organized?" to which I reply "That would be great!" And as he comes to unfinished projects he asks if I still want to finish it and he puts them all in a spot where I can't miss them. He will give me totally gentle reminders about them. Not in a bitchy way at all, he knows I need him to nudge me occasionally. Anyways...Sorry about the ramble. The point was to be: maybe you could get a mini cheerleader to help keep motivated?
mine!!!

I've got so many UFOs around here: half-finished knitting, sewing and needlework projects. My problem is that I am super enthusiastic to start a project, but unless I have a deadline (baby shower gift or something) I get bored or frustrated with it and don't finish.

One of these days I hope to sort through all these half-finished things and figure out what to do with them (some are probably hopeless and I'll never get around to doing them, so I may as well pass them on to somebody who wants them).

Me too...glad to know I'm not the only one I can't even begin to list them all...let's see...

2 couch reupholstery projects started....a pile of quilt tops and blocks sitting around waiting for me to 'finish' them...one bobbin of yarn on my new spinning wheel that I hope to do something with...a waldorf-style doll started for dd...numerous card-making and scrapbooking projects going...wet felt and needle felted stuff laying around to finish...I know there's more!!! etc

The list of materials that I bought and haven't begun to make stuff out of is staggering, too : ...It's definitely a disease!!!

If I could only get off the computer and get to work...

It's a good thing you aren't married to my dh--he's the King.

I am currently ready to strangle him as he just brought home some very expensive wood to make an Adirondack settee. Which in itself would be fine, but first I'd like him to finish trimming out the dining room window that he put in last summer, finish scraping and papering the hallway, finish the sideboard kit I bought him 10 years ago, etc.

That is me to a T! I am learning to knit and I also crochet. There is yarn everywhere. And I am currently making baby shower invitations for a friend so that stuff is everywhere too. Plus I have dabbled in just about everything. That is a good idea - get rid of some stuff and focus on the ones I really enjoy.
