retro uterus? tipped?

My OB said it generally doesn't mean much once you are a little farther along, because the uterus will be pushed up into midline as the baby grows. It is a little harder to do a pelvic exam on a person who is retroverted, and sometimes a little harder to get an early US picture.

I was told I had a tipped uterus about 12 years ago. Three perfectly normal pregnancies and intervention-free births later I have to say it is meaningless to me.

I have one and the only thing it meant was that I couldn't hear the heartbeat until 14 weeks, the uterus just needs to get a bit bigger.
I had a complication free pregnancy and birth.

Think about it - your uterus *can't* be retroverted as pregnancy progresses. Your internal organs, not to mention ribs and spine get in the way and the uterus has to fall along the path of least resistance - forward into a "normal" position.

I think some women can have a problem in early preg. with emptying their bladders if the uterus is pressing on the urethra while retroverted. But that is the only real problem I know of.

I have a tipped uterus and had no problems with pg and birth. The gyn who 'diagnosed" it likened it to being left-handed. A small percentage are and it's no big deal.

i have a tipped uterus too and had a healthy pg and baby. no problems conceiving either

I have a tipped uterus and had a natural 2:45 minute labor, no problems.

for me it made me show earlier and then kinda go back down a little when it tipped right. Go figure. It also takes a little longer to hear the heart beat.

I also have a tipped uterus. It's only more difficult to do a pelvic exam if the "examiner" is not familiar with this (in my many years of experience).

My last birthing experience was a homebirth.

This is so funny that you bumped this thread because the OB's have not said anything else about it since then, and I completely forget they even said anything to me about it in the first place!
