I love this No circ board! Anyways, wouldn't it be great to have a childrens book for explaining the body etc... that actually had uncut boys?! I was looking at a book for ds yesterday and it had a whole chapter pro-circ. Yeah, I want to waste my money on that!

I bet that between the lot of us we could come up with some great ideas for childrens educational literature. If anybody knows of any already in existnce please fill me in.

There was a book called "The Joy of Being a Boy" by Elizabeth Noble, I believe. I bought a copy in 1998- had to special order it though. It had photos and was for kids- showing a baby, that you were born that way, that you might be able to retract, that not all kids are left alone. I forget. But it was short, simple, and easy-to-follow.

Also, there is a webpage out there to this same effect, but geared toward older boys. I forget where though. I wonder if I have my copy of the above book somewhere... I should....

I know you're talking about older children's books, but if you ever want picture children's books with pictures of uncut boys (not that there are very many nudes in children's lit LOL) I seem to remember a nude little boy running around in Maurice Sendek's "In the Night Kitchen" and I think he was intact. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It seems like my local library had it in it's display of "banned books" and I just happened to notice the image as I glanced through. I think I'll try to find it for ds now

I would think that if you wanted a subtle message, or just a portion of the book to be about this topic specifically, you could order just about any growing-up book written by a non-US author. Maybe look for UK authors of kids' books about growth and development?

Does 'Joy' show only intact children?

I looked at 'It's All Perfectly Normal' which showed a cartoon of both an intact penis and one that was not. Underneath was the phrase 'Both of these are normal'--or words to that effect, and I read no further.

While there may be a lot of children who aren't intact, too many people assume that 'Normal' means 'Natural'--instead of 'common practice'.

For older readers I can't say enough good things about the Lynda Madaras book. A great deal of information on being intact & benefits thereof without doing it at the expense of kids who aren't.

And I have a book or two with illustrations of intact children--either from UK or Australia.

Yes, "Joy..." shows only intact children.
