I would have to have --

Bob Segar -----
Eric Clapton ----- these three would be greatest hits CD's
The Eagles -----

U2 -- The Joshua Tree (it's a tough choice as to which cd)
Kenny G -- Which ever cd has the most songs.

How 'bout the rest of you?

Sting greastest hits
REM either greates hits or Green
U2 Joshua Tree
Lisa Loeb either almbum
Enya Watermark (or greatest hits)
Indigo Girls
The Monkees greatest hits

I know that's more than five, but I snuck a few in my pocket before I became stranded......

Van Morrison - Avalon Sunset
Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
Michael Gettel - San Juan Suite
Marc Cohn - Marc Cohn
Natalie Merchant - Tigerlily
U2 - The Joshua Tree

Yep, that's 5, right? It would have been easier to pick just one, because that would have been Van Morrison.

So many left out -- Alannis Morrisette, Cat Stevens, Hothouse Flowers, Blue's Traveler, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Big Head Todd, John Cougar Mellencamp, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, REM...

Forget it, I am not going to any island where I can't have ALL my music! :P

Only five?

Okay ...

1. Grateful Dead / any of Dick's picks or the "from the vault" series

2. CSNY - Four Way Street

3. Jefferson Airplane - Blows Against the Empire

4. The Beatles (White Album)

5. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

but since you didn't ask about tapes, we'd have to add a few more, and those are my spiritual centers (which will mean nothing to anybody here, but I have to list them): R' Shlomo Carlebach z'l & Chaim David Saracik.

Don't ask about books; no room for them.

Well, some of us can consolidate! Then we can all go on the island together and listen to some great music! We'll arrange for a rescue in = say = a week?

Oh, and one of us needs to bring the CD player - and we'll all have to bring batteries!

Nobody seems to like my music though...

OK, as long as we're going to have access to CD players and DVD players, let's not forget to bring along our computers too! There will be ADSL there, right? And a refrigerator for ice cream, desert islands are usually hot. Hmm, maybe a nice fan...a blender for making margaritas...when do we leave?!?

I do, I do, I can even sing along with you! I owned every Smiths album and Psychedelic Furs album available when I was in college! It was all on tape though and I never got around to replacing them with CDs -- maybe someday I will. I still like them a lot, just wouldn't be on my top 5 list anymore.

I was the same way! It was just recently that I got into this music again! So, I went and purchased the CD's at a second hand store (very cheeeeeep!).

Also, my sister is making a series of CD's that she calls Vinal Rescue and she's burning all the songs we used to listen too! Cabera Voltair, Ministry, Bauhause, The Cure - oh, it's like being transported on a time machine!

So, sing it with me sister!

I like your music too Ms. Mom. It's all I used to listen to. But I thought I'd want to have some less depressing music on the island so I wouldn't be so sad to be stranded! :LOL

I know - I keep listening to 'My Baby Said' and 'Book of Days' and crying lately - I think I need to go back to something more up-beat!
