Ooooh, I'm glad somebody asked...I'd take:
1) Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto - Getz/Gilberto (the one with the Girl from Ipanema)
2) Joni Mitchell - Blue
3) the Grateful Dead - Europe '72
4) Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
5) Muddy Waters - Collected Works

and I'd also like to include Bob Marley - Exodus and The Doors - The Doors, if I may. Actually there are a lot of others...help! This ain't easy!

It's too hard to pick my top five. It changes too often. Right now I'm thinking:
The Bruisers- One Law for Them...

The Sun Records Collection- and if I'm not allowed a box set, I'll take disc one

The Smiths-Louder Than Bombs or maybe that greatest hits one

Cocteau Twins-Four Calender Cafe

Ella Fitzgerald- Compact Jazz

I'm glad I'll never have to make this decission IRL. Too tough. Ms. Mom- I love reading in your posts about your musical tastes! I don't think I would have survived my teen yrs w/out the Smiths, the Cure, etc. I was so seriously IN LOVE with Morrissey back in the days of black and white striped tights, black old lady dresses, black hair, black lipstick, black... well, you get the picture. I remember thinking "I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside" was such a clever and witty line. I still love the music, have really gotten into it again recently, although I'm very glad that my tastes have become a lot more inclusive.
Maybe we should start a "If you were Gothic" thread...
Etoile, CanOBeans- I love hearing about other people who were/are into this genre.

Only 5?????????????? Don't know if I could limit it to that. Anyway...here goes a try:

Dave Brubeck - Take 5

Loreena McKennitt - either The Mask & the Mirror or The Visit

Bob Marley & the Wailers - Legend

Crosby Stills & Nash - Deja Vu

Jimmy Buffett - White Sport Coat & a Pink Crustacean

Oh, but wait....Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Bonnie Raitt, Phish, the Dead, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Cowboy Junkies, Under the Rhine, Paul Simon, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Sarah McLaughlin, Thelonius Monk, Vivaldi, Puchini, Jefferson Airplane, Indigo Girls, Van Morrison....

I just couldn't do it. I think I'd go without some other essential so I could take them all!

NewMa, I forgot Cocteau Twins - listened to that CD ALL through my pregnacy with DS - now he's in to Rock? Go figure?

That I wear black on the outside line - oh my! I used to retort that to all who 'stared' at me!!!

I wasn't really 'Goth' probubly because it didn't have a name back then. I used to call myself 'dark punk'.

Hay, start that 'I was Goth' thread - you know I'll jump in (lol). It's just good to know I'm not alone in my music. Your too cool!

I finally found my thread again. I'm off the computer for a day and it's gone. At first I though that no one was responding, but then I found that it had moved.

It's so cool to see what everyone likes.

I limited it to just five because I wanted everyone to have to pick their absolute faves. It's tough, isn't it.

I noticed that I'm the only one who would bring a Kenny G CD. What do you suppose that means???

Enya is my Kenny G. If I couldn't have her, I'd take him.

Michael Gettel is the relaxing music on my list. That's why I had to list six, couldn't go without something totally calming.
