Mixed Music Swap?

Did anyone swap mixed tapes in High School? That was a really big thing for me and my friends.

Anyone want to have a mixed tape music swap? We could post here what kind of music we like and partner up? Any other suggestions for organizing? It's like a craft swap only music! Share the love and all...

I think that'd be fun... even if we put things on that are new to the other people, but not something they would out and out hate. Someone has a tape tree link in their sig... who is that???

Not to rain on your parade guys, but I put a post up about this and got a pm from the moderator saying because of copyright laws we couldnt do it, and couldnt do it on mothering.com.........

Friendly Public Service Message

I certainly wouldn't want to ever encourage anyone to violate the law (subliminal message: go to kazaa.com). I think that copyright laws are designed to protect the profits of artists and industry (subliminal message: go to kazaa.com) and that tape swapping or any other form of exchange (see previous subliminal message: go to kazaa.com) where no profit is gained, and therefore no profit is lost, does not violate, technically nor the intent of, copyright laws.

But, I live, work, and socialize within and amongst the twangity-twang music industry and know that other people can feel very differently, especially if they feel directly effected or their bottom line is threatened. So, if Mother(ing) feels strongly about not advocating such here in public, I can respect that.

By the way, did I mention that you should go to Kazaa?

Peace & Love,

Ok, I'm a moderator and wasn't aware of this! I gotta go talk to Cynthia now!

I never thought of it with the copyright issue. I agree copying an entire CD treads on thoes waters, but a mixed CD? Hmmmm.

Hay, I have this odd erge to go to Kazaa.com? I wonder why?
