How to sew hidden zippers?

I am not an experienced seamstress, but would like to learn how to sew hidden zippers (the ones that are sew on a seam, but you can't tell). I was also wondering if you can place hidden zippers on seams of ready-made garments, or is the seam allowance usually too small?

Any help would be wonderful. I have searched on the internet for resources but have had no luck so far.

It's usually called an invisible zipper, that may be why you couldn't find anything. In any case - here's a link with graphics.Invisible Zippers

Invisible zippers are quite easy to put in -- just make sure you buy an invisible zipper foot (a couple dollars at most fabric stores or sewing machine shops).

And, of course, they look so much better and more professional! I'm not sure about putting them into ready-made clothes because they're inserted before the rest of the seam is sewn.
