Amara, I totally misread your first post. Here I am suggesting you try night weaning, when that's what you said you were gonna do.
Sorry!

Rebooting, move me to waiting to o, pretty please?
I am Kim and my ds is 26 months old.

Congratulations to Dee! Love to see those mamas still nursing get pregnant! Gives me hope, too.

I need to hang out on this thread more, where my 68 day cycle seems more normal. :LOL

Hi, can I join too??

I guess I'm technically in the 2ww. I'm not temping yet, just checking CM and entering it on FF. I have had 2 PPAF, both with EWCM. I used to have very textbook cycles and great EWCM! But this time the first cycle was about 32 days, and if I only go by CM, my fertile days were day 18 during the 1st PPAF and day 22 the 2nd cycle.

I was hoping that I can conceive with just checking CM, b/c although I temped to conceive DD, I probably could just have went by CM. I know nursing screws up cycles, so I may have to temp soon.

Anyway, it's great to have this support here.

Thanks!

:LOL, you are in waitng to O, already. You never updated us when you Oed.
I updated your ds's age and added your 1st name though!

Niha, hi! It's definitely common for nursing to cause wacky cycles. I often had several patches of fertile cm in a cycle.

Booohoooo!!!

started yesterday, so no preggo this month. I'm *so* frustrated. With DS, we got pregnant the first month of trying - this time we've been trying for 5 months unsuccessfully. The one upside is that as of 3 days ago, DS is night-weaned (for 7-8 hours per night; 9 or 10pm - 5am) so I sincerely hope this will improve my fertility. We used Dr. Jay Gordon's gentle night weaning method (plus a bedtime snack to fend off hunger overnight), and it was pretty painless except for a few minutes of crying the first night. Since then, DS doesn't hasn't seemed upset by the nightweaning at all. I bring him in bed (from his mattress next to ours) about 5am (by which time he is hungry) and he gets a good snuggle and nurse before we get up for the day.

A few questions for you all:
In the upcoming month, DH and I will be traveling in different places until right up to or after my expected 0 date. I really hope we don't miss it. Can someone here remind me - when does the window of fertility end after 0? Is there a day or so of leeway? And should I expect to have fertile mucous for the entire fertile window? TIA!

Once you o, the egg is gone in anywhere from 6-24 hours. And it can take the sperm up to a few hours to travel up to where they need to be, and generally sperm undergo a process called capacitance first (which takes about 12 hours) in which they are enabled to more easily penetrate the egg. The most fertile days are the day before and the day of ovulation, with more pregnancies occurring from intercourse the day before. The day after ovulation is still considered a potentially fertile day, but the chances of intercourse occurring are pretty slight that day, from what I've read. The thing that makes it trickier is that sometimes it's hard even from a chart to know EXACTLY what day o occurred. So what you think is the day after, could still in some cases be the day of (if you have a slow rise, for example), and so on.

Clear as mud?

I know for TTA purposes, you are considered infertile after you have 3 high temperatures above the coverline...but since that is for TTA, that is the most conservative view possible of things.

HI everyone hope your week is going well.
my 1 year old ds has stopped nursing at night on his own (three nights now) yeahhhh!
and I think I might be ovulating, my temp has just shot up and I had full ferning on my saliva test,
My question is would this happen if I wasn't ovulating or do you think I am really ovulating (sooo exciting) I would love to start cycling again even if I don't get pg right away at least I could have some hope.
I decided to start taking vitex as well, tia if you can answer my question

Hey, Crystal!
From reading TCOYF, I think that if your temp has risen and stays up, you have ovulated. If it stays up for a day or two then see-saws back down, probably not.
I'm taking Vitex this cycle too; let's compare notes after a while to see if it's actually doing any good

Slightly Crunchy,

Thanks for that info. I've been monitoring my cervical mucous, which is good for telling me when the fertile period begins, but I usually see only a gradual decrease at the end of the fertile period. So, I'm not sure when I ovulate. I've signed up with fertility friend and am going to start monitoring my BBT tomorrow, so hopefully I'll at least get a better pic of my fertility (and whether I'm actually ovulating) this month.

Uh, what's Vitex?

TIA!

When should I test??

Since I don't know when I o'ed and I only had 2 ppaf (which means I don't know exactly when to expect my period), how many days after conception can I test?

Does anyone feel that they can rely on their intuition to tell them if they are pregnant? I am almost sure I am pregnant, I know it sounds crazy but this is what I have to go by: sxs (burping and metallic taste in mouth) and a pregnant dream the night I conceived. This also happened with DD, but not this early.

mrzmeg, I have only been taking my bbt for 5 days now, and today is the first day on vitex, I would love to compare notes in a couple weeks to see how it is working I think that I will see a good return to fertility soon because I am going back to work : starting this weekend (only pt) two 12 hr shifts a day and then a night, so maybe that will bring on af, but I keep hoping and hoping that somehow magicaly I am ovulating now and maybe I can conceive before my flow comes back,
With my other two boys my flow didn't come back until I weaned them at 18 months, I don't want to wean so early this time (maybe clw?) but I really want to be pregnant by january I wish I wish I wish
oh well I will stop rambling on

Gotcha, Crystal . Hope it works!

Amara, Vitex is the scientific name for Chaste Berry Tree. It is supposed to help balance hormones and some folks look at it as a natural Clomid. I'm taking it because I was on hormonal birth control and want to get my progesterone level back to normal so I'll have a longer luteal phase...sounds like Crystal is taking it so that her estrogen will get up to par enough to ovulate. HTH
