Sometimes it DOES happen w/o consent - Page 2

Amazing. I have read so many threads like this, and at one point was discussing it with the midwife I had hired. She cut me off and insisted that this NEVER happened, that it was a myth that it happened, and that nothing happens in a hospital without prior consent.

Ah, yeah. I think she needs to get her head out of her one-hospital-in-town that perhaps doesn't even DO them, and see the world!

My stepmom is similar, is a neonatal nurse in a progressive hospital that doesn't do circs, and she can't believe some of the "stories" I relate to her from this and other sites. She can't fathom that there are hospitals unlike hers...

Oh wow, now I'm paranoid. I'm expecting a boy at the end of November, and now I know that either me or DH will *always* be with ds. I also plan on making at home before the birth 2 signs, one for inside the bassinet and one for outside saying "NO bottles, NO pacifiers, No Shots, No circumcision" . We don't use a pediatricion, we have a wholistic MD, but he doesn't have hospital rights, so we are stuck with whoever is working at the time. But no way will the baby be out of our site, ever!

well, if you go to centennial woman's, kim, give that nurse a good squirt for me :evil

they were pretty cool with not taking the baby out of the room- there were no babies in the nursery, btw, they *all* roomed in. and even one old nurse that got pissy on me for not wanting my wonderful free formula goody bag softened up when she found out we wouldn't circ- 'thank god! that is so unnecessary, & horrible. if people had to see it...' she also told me hat about 95% of those nursing, roomed-in little boys didn't escape the hospital without having it done.

thanks for adding to the local statistics on the good side.

I'm going to Summit Medical Center Suse... it's 2 miles from my house, so I figure i can stay at home for a long time before I go in.... DH at first didn't understand why I will not allow the little one to be cut up, but after I sent him some facts, that was all it took. Not that he would have had a say in it anyway. I told him that over my cold dead body will they put a knife to the baby....

What if it wasn't an accident? What if a child predator wanted to cut your child and had the medical licence to get away with a sexual assault... with only a fine of $23,000? Half way down the page- Roosevelt Taylor in Texas.

I would probably castrate any doc who circ'd my son without consent. This is why I don't have babies in the hospital - I am *way* to distrusting of most medical professionals.
