Sewing machine/serger question

My MIL has lent me her "fancy" White sewing machine to play around with (!). It has something like 24 stitches to use. I am completely clueless about most all of them, just so ya know. I'm guessing it doesn't have a serger function but how would I know? And if not, is there another stitch that is similiar?

If it's not this exact one, it's close.

I'm on shakier ground when it comes to sewing rather than knitting, but I've been sewing up a lot of dipes, so now I think I'm an expert. :LOL

There really isn't a serger function on any sewing machine. From what I gather, sergers use more than 2 threads at a time, more than one needle at a time, and have cutters. Sewing machines just can't do that.

But my sewing machine has an overcast stitch that I use with an overcast presser foot to finish the edges. I guess that's what you mean by serger function?

The stitch looks like this:

God that looks horrible, but maybe that will help you find the stitch on your machine?

Gotcha. I can just hem the edges but I wanted to make sure. I need to look and see if there's a stitch like that on this bad boy! Thanks for the info.
