Dd has been more fussy this past week, got so bad last night that I puled out the pacifier (she really loves to suck, then overeats, doesn't really spit up-only 3-4 times in 2 weeks-then gets gassy) and the gripe water. After that she slept from 10-6, waking only to nurse then falling right to sleep again. I'm eliminating dairy, uncooked veggies, though I think it is less about what I eat and more about her overeating.

OMG! I could so have written this! I have always been told that a bf baby can't overeat, but Kiersten seems to have an upset tummy and then try to eat to deal with it which just makes it worse!

overeating

I too have experienced the overeating phenomenon. It seems that ds will be eating and get gassy (or need to burp) and will start to eat more in order to "keep it down"... which only makes it worse and he spits it up. It's getting better now that I recognize this and can stop him to burp.

Greg&Jen, the 3 hour alert period was before we went to bed . I was less alert myself for the 4-5am one this morning. All these cute recognition smiles and eye gazing on her part (love, love, love being the object of my babies' 1st love affair!) and I could barely keep my eyes open! :LOL
Jenn & G&J~~ definartely the overeating phenomenon here, dd has gained over 1 lb over her birth weight and she's 2 weeks old!

completely unrelated to the new baby but...

our rat Max just died.

we spent several hours earlier trying to explain death to Michael (our 4 year old) and it's just not getting through.

after we buried him i was outside meditating / praying over where we buried him and Michael came out and asked how Max was doing. then i had to explain the whole death thing all over again.

I have sometimes reeaaly wished ds will take a paci- but he thinks they are gross, which is probly fortunate in the long run. My baby is definitely capable of overeating he has done it about 5 times now. 2 times after i fell asleep nursing and woke ip 2 hours later with him still on the boob .

Klothos~ so sorry for the loss of your pet and the sad lesson your son is experiencing.

I am almost always too hot and ds is always too hot- he has sweaty little curls on the side of his head after eating. I personally haven't used the tube top idea- Caiden effectively covers my exposed areas....
