Of the 700,000 children infected with HIV worldwide last year, about 315,000 have gotten it through breast-feeding.
And they separated out the ones who'd gotten it from birth or before birth, How?

And those breastfed babies, were they Exclusively breastfed, or mixed fed? Because the South African study a few years back found that HIV transmission rates were highest in the babies given both formula and breastfed, the rate was the same for the babies were either FF or BF EXCLUSIVELY.

i would bet that that statisitc means that half of the babies who end up staying HIV positive after the birth are breastfed. which would mean that the other half are formula fed. which would mean that bf doesnt' increaser the trasmission rate - right?

To me it sounds like there flat out saying BF gives HIV to the baby. I remember reading the Mothering issue on HIV and BF and it said the opposite.

yeah, that sounds like what they're saying - but we'd need to see how they arrived at that conclusion. sounds to me like they are misinterpeting data.
