I was feeling pretty down this morning; strictly hormonal, I'm sure...and I was thinking about Seren and Jenny.
On the way home from the gym, I started thinking about all of the reasons to feel good about this pregnancy, and life, and I thought it might be uplifting for some to share their gratitude as well. I feel like I've been doing a lot of complaining because it's so sanctioned during pregnancy, but I am not liking the way it's been making me feel. So here are my reasons for feeling thankful today:
* I got pregnant before DH and I were even officially trying. We had just stopped trying to avoid pregnancy, and we decided to let it happen when it wanted to, and BAM! The first month, we got the
!! This was a huge relief for me, because I had been on the pill consistently for about 15 years and I had no idea if my body would be capable of getting pregnant, or how long it would take. So, yes, I am hugely grateful that we did not have the stress of TTC for months or years on end.
* I have a wonderfully supportive and loving husband to share this experience with.
* We have a large family and every single person is just overjoyed about the coming baby.
* I have the most amazing best friend who has shared every moment of joy, and has empathized during the low points.
* I haven't had morning sickness or any significant physical ailments! I have been very surprised by this because I used to get really nauseated during the first day of my new pill packs because of the hormone surge; I expected to be over the bowl for the first few months at least. So far I've had one morning of dry heaves and some generally low-grade nausea, but nothing serious. I can still eat a healthy and balanced diet, so I feel like I'm giving the baby what he/she needs (including Tater Tots! Babies need Tater Tots.).
* I have the entire Summer to work at home, so I'm not on a rigid schedule that would make morning sickness more likely.
* There is a very active and large LLL community in my area.
* I managed to locate a wonderful midwife within the rigid military medical system. That, in itself, is a miracle!!
* Only two more weeks until I get to hear the heartbeat!
* I've had a sticky baby so far, and we're almost out of the first trimester.
* I AM GOING TO BE A MOM!!!
