Asheville, NC Vax exemptions...experience?

I just wanted to know of any Mamas out there who have had some experience with the school system here and exemptions.
*What exemption did you use and what school?
*Reactions?
*How is Asheville on acepting exemptions?

My pediatrician is behind us on not vaxing and we go see him next week for a yearly checkup and health assessment for school.. A very small number of his patients do not vax. I call his nurse "Nurse Evil". Never been comfy with her. But he is awsome! (I have lots of questions for him.)
*What is your experience with your doctors?
*Is it helpful to have my ped. sign my exemption form also? Even if it is religious? And what exactly are the rules on religion. (I consider myself religious to but I am not affiliated to any church nor do I attend one regularly.)
*As well as getting notorized what else do you suggest?
*Should I be worrid about a notory trying to stir up trouble from her/him reading my exemption?
*Would I do better to get a lawyer to help? Not that I can afford one but might be able to get one through MMF.
*Also , I would like to know more about a confidentiality of sorts. How would I go about doing that? I want to make sure officials don't go around school yakin' it up that we do not vax and that getting passed on to others that might try to stir up problems. I am ready to stand my ground if it were to happen but I do not like confrontation.
*My boys are on Medicaid, should I be worried about the DSS here? My social worker has always been very polite to me and I to her as well. I am not sure if she is aware that we do not vax. We have never even met here.
Last ? for now.
*Is it better to prepare my own exemption or use one that the folks reading it are familiar with?
Lots of questions here and I appreciate you all for any help that can be sent my way.
Thanks and rock on brave informed mamas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.vaclib.org/pdf/exemption.htm This will give you more info on exemptions for NC. According to this, you write down on a paper you are against vaxes for religious reasons, sign it and turn it in. You don't even have to have it notarized. Sounds easy enough. They have a form on there that seems pretty straight forward if you want to use that. Our state actually has a form we can sign, we got it notarized at the bank. They can't say anything about it, that's not their job. Though our notary was a little amazed they actually tried to force people to get shots, it was kinda funny. My son is on Medicaid too and they know we don't vax for religious reasons, no problems w/ them ever! They asked once if he was up to date and I said no for religious reasons and that's the last I heard. DSS will have no case against you since have exemptions in your state and you will have them on file. I know I'm not in NC, but I hope that helps.

Thanks thepeach80.
It seems that I have found conflicting resources with some stating no need to write about your religious exemptions beliefs and others stating that one does need to.
*I also want to know about confidentiality. Is this something I should put in my form and have school officials sign? I think a notary is good just for a more official look and feel. It might show that I went the extra mile, not that I really should have to.
Thanks,

Hey,
We live in Asheville and wrote a religious exemption letter to the school my boys attend. I did not go into any detail about religious beliefs, just that we are religiously opposed. That was it, short and to the point. No questions were asked.

Confidentiality

It seems I remember reading somewhere in someone else's post about a form of confidentiality. Does anyone know about this?

Hello, I live in Asheville and have 3 unvaxed kids. My oldest will be starting first grade soon. All I had to do was write a quick note to the school saying that we do not vax for religious/personal reasons. My daughter goes to Artspace Charter School, it is a very nice communtity with a good number of AP minded families. What school will your dc be attending?

Robyn to dh Eric
:infant: SAHM to Raven 6, Dakota 4 and Zebulon 8 weeks

P.S. who is your cool doctor, I am looking for a new family doc who won't give us a hard time ?
