Another friend not bf :(

Just makes me sad.

This is her 2nd child, born this afternoon. She bf her daughter for a very brief time and the daughter didn't gain weight very well so she decided not to even try this time.

Just sad. I don't think she had good information the first time, and don't think she got enough support.

The same thing just happened with a friend of mine.

It IS sad, I get so frustrated when this happens with people in my circle. I had trouble myself but had the luck to come across a good lactation consultant and realized that that is what makes all the difference. It's always worth a try, at any rate. I am feeling the same way, as my sister-in-law is not even going to try (and she doesn't even have a bad experience in the past) and she is due any day now. The thing that expecially gets to me about this particular couple (my SIL and BIL), is that they are fanatical about getting the best baby seat, spending whatever amount of money to make sure everything is the best, safest, etc. So why wouldn't you breastfeed? That's what I want to know. I can't even really go there with them because I get too upset.

I know, it's is so aggrivating to me too. My friend breastfed for 2 weeks and stopped. They had thrush and she got Mastitus but she breastfed and made it through only to quit! She started giving him formula after each time she breastfed saying that he was still hungry and then she said she had no milk supply anymore! DUH!!!!!! I tried to help her but now I don't even want to speak to her. She is also a smoker, she smoked through her entire pregnancy and is still smoking :Puke !!!!!!! I just feel so bad for her little baby.

Yesterday I was out with another friend who was totally inconvienced by the fact that I had to go and breastfeed my dd. She said "See if you would feed her formula you could just keep her in her stroller and give her the bottle" My dd is only 18 weeks! Even if I was feeding her from a bottle I would still want to hold her while she ate! I think it is awful when mothers prop up their little babies and stick the bottle in their mouths without holding them! Little babies need to be held and cuddled! I went to a party and there was this mother there with her 3 week old baby and she had him in the carseat while she held the bottle in his mouth UGH!
