How does one become a lactation consultant?

I posted this in the getting started/overcoming difficulties thread, but perhaps it would be better here...

Some background: I have a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree already, so I am already in the health professions field. However, I don't really like practicing pharmacy, and besides, it doesn't work too well with being an at-home mama... lol (I don't deal THOSE kinds of drugs... ) I have a 2 1/2 month old baby girl, and breastfeeding is going REALLY well. I would love to help other women in this area. I would be willing to do additional schooling or whatever needs to be done. SO.... how do I go about doing this???

Thanks!

The above link is a good place to get started gathering info. Since you have a Ph.D you are well on your way. There are different "pathways" depending on what level of education you have. This is if you want to be board certified.

hth's some. I'm naking or I wouldwrite more.

GL!

eta: I just noticed our daughters were born 3 days apart. Congratulations! She's beautiful!
