Don't get me wrong, I've been excited since the beginning of this pregnancy but now it's getting closer and I'm looking forward to meeting this sweet girl!!! I can't wait to hold her, see what she looks like (who she looks like...will she look like one of the twins? Sam?...) Will she have a head full of hair like Sam or bald like the twins... you know what I mean? All those wonderful, exciting questions!!!! I can't WAIT to nurse a newborn again! I'm still nursing my 2 year old but it's not the same as that sweet newborn nursing, that beautiful breastmilk breath...

Ok, I could go on and on but I won't Side note- when should I start washing her cloth diapers to make sure they're all ready??? I am having so much fun getting her stash together!!!!

Wow, hi, Aley, I haven't seen you post here in ages! It's exciting to see another twin mommy here at MDC, and in the Sept. expectant board, too! AND you named her Savannah, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NAME, . What will her middle name be? My mom left mine blank, and I named myself Sunset in second grade, and later changed to my current middle name, April.

I too am getting quite excited about these babies' arrival! It becomes more real each day as we put more baby stuff and equipment into its rightful place... But as eager as I am to hold and meet and nurse these cuties, I still want them to stay in there as long as they possibly can!

I've gotten into the baby craze in a big way recently, which is good, because it inspired me to get almost all of my shopping done. Now I just need a changing pad and diapers/wipes, and I'm all set. Also, I need to rearrange my drawers to make room for all of the baby stuff before I wash it all, but I'll feel fine if I have that by 37 weeks. Also need to order the birth kit.

Oh, and I need to get a new sling, too, as well as big sibling gifts, and a few new videos or something to keep the kids occupied during labor. I also want to make a list of foods to have ready in the freezer, etc.

MAN! I was feeling so accomplished yesterday, and now I just undid some of that. Um...

I'm thrown, since this pregnancy is so very different than the others, and I feel like I really should be ready for this li'l boy to make his appearance around 37 weeks, but also that I need to be mentally prepared for him to hang in there late, like dd did.

But he's already shown himself to be precocious! Early movements (before 14 weeks; at 14 weeks they were strong enough to not be ignored/denied at all) measuring a bit ahead through the first two trimesters, and my midwife is calling this one a bit bigger than my others, too. She was right to within a half lb with dd. Also, many many more bh this time. He was also conceived earlier in my cycle than either other pregnancy, so I want to keep that factored in.

Also important that other than just organizing and all of that, I am so prepared to labor and birth again. I'm looking forward to it! With ds, my first (40 weeks), I was scared. With dd, I think I needed the extra time (she was 41.5 weeks) to be fully ready for my hb. Also I think she was posterior, and I had a lot of prodromal labor to rotate her. (from 37 weeks. Yes, that would be over a month of prodromal labor almost nightly!)

I've talked to him and explained that he needs to wait until after 8/22, since it's Isabelle's bday and she deserves her own day in a way it would be hard to give with a brand new baby born, but after that, he's got my blessing as well as the midwife's! That would be 38 weeks. Also, the in-laws will be out of the country, so we'll have a few days of family time before they swoop! LOL!

I also had some qualms before about not having someone here for the kids, but I really don't think it's necessary now. I think it would be absolutely perfect for it just to be immediate family and Martha, our midwife. It feels so right. My youngest this time will be as old as my oldest, last time.

I am so wrapped up in the daily patterns of sleeping, working, eating and sleeping that I don't seem to have the time to realize that I am about to meet my child. I wish I could slow down and get more organized. I feel like I am running out of time and energy for baby preparation. It's funny, i'm not worried about being a mother... i feel super confident about that. but i am worried about getting everything ready, cleaned, folded, ordered,... DONE in time.

A child, a person, a part of my life for ever... wow, that's pretty intense.

No kidding. I have managed to wrap my brain around this whole concept one - count 'em, one - time. I had to sit down after I fully grasped that once this kid arrives, it will be my concern, and I will be its mother, til the day I die.

And Jen, some days its not enough time!!! Although there are definitely others when you could move them out by 16!!!

I am so happy about this new baby! I feel like I am finally at a point in my life (after three children) where I am totally ready, where I am fully in the mothering zone, if you know what I mean. It feels good.

16?? I was thinking 12......only on long summer days when it has been raining for what seems like an eternity!!!

I am very very excited and cannot wait I saw my midwife yest and she brought my birthing kit over and she said Mason (the baby) is really really low and I told her I am guessing to be in labor in 3 wks, well I hope so...LOL!!

It really starts getting realistic when I'm seeing the crib go up, the twin strollers, then the baby clothes (from Nicolas) washed and sorted, the two swings in the living room, now the cloth diapers, and wow, especially when we installed the matching twin infant car seats in my car!

My whole family basically thinks I can't do all this. I pray they will be wrong! I feel like Blueviolet, in the mothering zone, and feel confident I can properly care for, love and instruct my 6 year old while simultaneously breastfeeding, cloth diapering and otherwise caring for twin infants. While also keeping the house in some semblance of order, preparing family meals and even being able to do some reading and other personal pleasures.

Well, I can always hire help if needed, right??

Savannah- You're going to do great!!! I wish I was at this point in my life when I had my twins. You are a wonderful, confident mama and those twin loves are so lucky to have you!!! I know it gets overwhelming a bit as it gets closer, but really- you're going to do great! I really wish I knew all that I know now (and yes, I'm STILL learning from my kids everyday!!! ) But I feel that now I would have the confidence to exclusevely breast feed them, cloth diaper, sling, etc.

I even get comments from my family that I'm nuts for cloth diapering, etc. etc. but I just smile and make some joke.

Your 6 year old is going to LOVE the twins!!!! He's also going to be a great help! My twins are already assigning themselves jobs for our Savannah- MacKenzie has put herself in charge or picking out the cloth diapers (she knows them all! and which are fitted, and which are covers and she also learned how to snappi a prefold!!!) and Jack is going to pick out her clothes.

PS. I didn't get to read all the other posts on this thread- I've been a little obsessed with the cloth diapering board because I've been getting all of Savannah's dipes together. I'll come visit later today when my 2 year old is napping

Jen and Anna, this is my third and I still have a hard time wrapping my brain around this new person entering our lives! I have moments of excitement and impatience and wanting the time to pass quickly, but then realize how much we need to do still--lots of cleaning and organizing, finish last year's taxes, finish shampooing the carpets, clean and organize the garage and have a yard sale, wash the new prefolds, buy a birth pool, buy birth supplies--then it seems like I'll need every moment of the eight or less weeks I have left. If this one comes as early as dd, I might only have 4 weeks left.

I'm really excited to find out if this is a boy or a girl. I just have no intuition about the sex at all. With ds I didn't either, but I felt strongly that dd was a girl all along. I'm glad I don't have a clue--I just love that moment of discovery at the birth, and feel blessed to have a boy and a girl already, so no attachments to either one this time around.

A box of prefolds and covers arrived yesterday, and it was exciting to see the tiny newborn pull-on covers I ordered.

I'm also trying to savor my time with dd in her last weeks as the youngest--it's bittersweet. She's only 17 months old and her birth is still so fresh in my mind. She's been very interested in babies lately, noticing them when we're out shopping, etc. I hope that's a good sign!

I am getting excited..but nervous. My husband and I were talking today, and he asked me how far along I am according to the ultrasound due date (Aug 29th). I told him I would be 36 weeks tomorrow by the US, 35 weeks tomorrow by my period. He looked at me and his jaw dropped. He said "Didn't we have Bridget at 37 weeks??????" Uh, yep.

We still have some finishing work on the baby's room (a sitting room we built over hte garage off our bedroom), I am in the middle of painting the kids bathroom, and a million other projects going on!

I could very possible have one to two weeks left. No. It can't be. I am really NOT ready....

Yeah, I'm nowhere near ready either! I'll be 33 weeks on Tuesday, so I should still have some time even if this one comes early like his brother. First, we have to get through this move. Ugh! I hate moving, especially while being pregnant and having the due date so near. After that's done (hopefully next weekend), we have to get dh ready for school and spend a small fortune on his books, renew health insurance, wash all the baby clothes and diapers, buy some last minute things that I keep forgetting about, arrange for someone to be at the birth with ds, construct a birthplan......

I keep tellling the baby that he has to wait until August 31st when I'll be 37 weeks, then he can come whenever he pleases. I hope he listens! I have a very strong feeling that he'll be early. I've been so busy with everything else that I haven't even started to process the actual birth or life thereafter with two little boys.
