Taking Evening Primrose Oil can hurt TTC efforts if taken after ovulation

I didn't know this, and I figured I'm probably not the only one, so thought I'd share it. Found it at http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/epo.html

Evening Primrose Oil or EPO should only be taken from menstruation to ovulation. This is because Evening Primrose Oil or EPO can cause uterine contractions in pregnancy. The dosage taken should be 1500mg to 3000mg per day. Since essential fatty acids are necessary, you can take flax seed oil in place of Evening Primrose Oil or EPO after ovulation. This may be taken throughout pregnancy as well.

Some say to avoid even flaxseed oil after O . . .

Wow - I hadn't heard to avoid flax seed oil too. Why? Same reason as EPO?

I've heard that both EPO and FS have progestins so they can mess with your hormones. But, I guess it's like any drug-- pros and cons. I'd stay away from anything not medically/homeopathically prescribed after O, but I'm just paranoid.

But that's when my hormones get all crazy and my poor nipples hurt from nursing! AGGGGH! And here I thought I had found a way to make PMS more tolerable.

Well, I wouldn't take my post as the "final" word . . .it's only what I've read on other message boards, and as you know, they are far from always being reliable. It might still be OK! We need to ask someone trained in homeopathy . . .

I have a friend who took EPO during her whole pregnancy and was fine. Then again, she also took it ttc and had 3 miscarriages. But who knows. I think I've read enough to make me not take it after o.

I've read both views that you can take EPO up until O and that you should only take them until O and not after. I don't take it after O *just in case*. My midwife is the one who advised me to take EPO and she said to take it up until O, not after.
