You know I posted before I saw the clip of Alex getting up at night with her baby. I thought her mom was just a tad bit unsupportive telling Alex "well if you want to quit all you have to do is say so"

I was surprised that she bf her baby, as I recall when he was about 4 months Dr. Phil sent Alex on a weekend trip to have a reality check about boys (to meet some 'nice' boys to compare to the loser she was dating) and since she didn't take the baby, I figured she had weaned him by then.

Are we talking about the same Alex? Her baby was just born he was about 3 weeks on the show today and it wasn't a rerun.

Here is a link http://www.drphil.com/show/show.jhtm...lydivided8.xml they basically talked about the baby's father and their problems with him. The paternal grandmother was on the phone she sounded semi crazy. It showed how she was up at night with the baby and how she takes him to a school where she can be with him all day.

I think her parents are really in need of some help. I am so glad she is breastfeeding. Even if she only does it for a little while that is ah uge thing for a girl her age. HUGE! I am so proud of her.,

I was so glad when I saw that she was breastfeeding too. But, yes these shows are all repeats from this past season. I also assume that she weaned him by about 4mos. of age because of the trips and such that she went on with out him, but I still say good for her! I would guess that probably not a lot of 15yr. old girls breastfeed if they have babies, and any amount of breastfeeding is better than none.
ETA: I don't always watch Dr. Phil but I never missed an episode of this family because of her story.

OK so someone who knows how it ends: did anyone in the family get any healthier? how did things turn out with the dad? (babies that is) I always seem to miss Thursdays.

lilyka -

I saw the most change in the mother (Erin) overall, but they all still need a lot of work/help. The father of the baby... there was nothing really more said about him after that one show. Just that they had talked to him and that he had visited the baby. (I think? I don't really remember so someone correct me if I am wrong.) Alex herself began dating and even had sex again (they did end up putting her on the pill). The dad of the family ... it was hard for me to tell when he was telling the truth or when he was lying. The younger girl seemed to grow a bit over the season as well, and is trying to work on her relationship with her father. It ended saying that they all needed continue to work on themselves over the summer. It sort of seems like they may be back on next season, but no official word on that.

so a little improvement but stil a bunch of disfunctional people. ireally don't think I have ever see such a normal looking family be so comepletely clueless.

When they were on during the season, I realized that she was BFing and I wrote the show saying that they should really congratulate her for choosing to BF- that it was a very mature decision for her to make! I don't think they really even said anything about it- which is sad, because it WAS a very mature decision to make, and she wasn't getting much support. sad.
