Wool mattress pads

Thread Starter
After seeing the outrageous prices for wool mattress pads out there, I'm thinking of somehow making my own. Most of them look like they have a felted top.

Any suggestions to making on of these? Should I sew 2 layers of wool and stuff it with wool? Or would that bunch up if it wasn't quilted?

I'm very clueless when it comes to sewing, etc. (and i don't knit).

Thanks mamas!

I have a mattress pad, but I actually put a yard of wool I bought on top of it underneath the sheet. DS goes coverless around the house, and half the time he falls asleep for his naps that way. I got tired of washing the sheets and the mattress pad and then not having the bed made when he fell asleep again. So I put the wool down and now I just have to change the sheet. It's just one yard of interlock that's been felted. I got it from OSDS and was going to make a diaper wrap out of it, but then I learned how to knit soakers so it never got done.
