Another sewing machine question...

I was at our local thrift shop yesterday and there were two REALLY old sewing machines. One is a brother and the other I'm not sure... They cost $25 each and I didn't get them. But I have been thinking about them ever since! Should I get one (or both)? The signs on them said that they work. Of course they probably won't be there when I go back tomorrow.

Would this be a good deal for something like this? They both are electric and have pedals, but they look REALLY REALLY old but still in good condition.

HELP!!!

Thanks!

I'd find out where and how long they were used. Sometimes you can get a good, sturdy machine from a high school class, for example, and they're usually kept in good condition. The only thing about buying a really old machine is that it might have been used a LOT and not all that gently. If things go wrong and you need repairs, they can be costly and you have no warranty. Still, if you've only invested $25, why not?

Geesh, I'm a lot of help, aren't I?
