Favorite mama pad?

I cant believe i am even thinking about this because my own blood just freaks me out, but since I dont have AF very often I figured why not at least ask?

I am thinking of different weights because the first 2 days I suaully flood and then after that it is only spotting.

What is your favorite mama pad?
Extra heavy pad?
overnight pad?(this is an important one because ever since DS was born I havent woken up without blood on my clothes in a while)
light spotting pad?

I am looking for something easy to use, snaps, and easy to clean.

Lunapads look so cute to me, what do you think of them?

I love my gladrags...

I bought the organic colored gladrags on sale through my food-buying coop and they were a really good deal this way. I have about 8 regular ones (with the option of two seperate inserts in each, but could accommodate more) and 5 night-time ones (longer and a little flared in the front and back - also with two optional inserts) for night-time during the first 2 days of my period and post-partum. They have one snap, fold open to accommodate the inserts and are super comfy and easy.

I also bought the Gladrags little black zippered purse for extra pads for when I'm out and about. It comes with an additional inner removable sleeve / envelope for used pads, so that they are kept seperate from your unused ones.

Warmly,
Michelle

ohmygosh, this is so weird. I was going to post about cloth pads today....

I recently purchased my first cloth pads from Lunapads and am on my 3rd cycle with them.

Previously I was also very icked out by the idea of cloth but I switched to cloth because I have had trouble with rashing during my period. And I have such wicked cramping - I have heard people say that they have found some cramping to reduce while using cloth !?!? (I'm hoping!)

I have only 2 sizes so far - the mini and the long. The mini is more than enough for me as my flow is not heavy. The long ones have inserts that are changeable - which is nice too.

However, I find that they

a)shift backwards and I am getting some undie staining
b) bunch up and get uncomfy

Is it just this brand or is it cloth pads in general?

I think bunching a little (or bulking in the middle) is just to be expected from all pads - cloth or sposies. At least that's what I've experienced. I have had slippage / moving of the pads if I wear undies made from anything with spandex or lycra (slippery fabrics, in other words), but when I wear 100% cotton the cloth pads do not move around at all.

Warmly,
Michelle

here's what works best for me with no slipping or bunching:

fleece topped r & b pads
mother of eden (fuzzibunz) pads
harleyz pads

Very timely b/c I just got my first AF after giving birth. Here's my take:
For years I've used Glad Rags. They are work horse pads, to be sure. But I've recently just gotten AF back after having my baby and have gotten to test out the MOE pads. THey are awesome! My main issues with the Glad Rags were the regular pads were too short and the supers too huge for everyday use (great for post partum and overnights, though). They are also not that soft.

The MOE Comfort Pads have been a God send! They are SUPER soft. They absolutely do not stain and they rinse easily (not the case with the Glad Rags). You can re-use the backing, which saves some money. They are just the right length for me, too.

I don't really have experience with other brands to share, but hope this helps. So, in summary:
Fav in general: MOE
Fav overnight: Glad Rags (super long length really has an edge here)
Fav light spotting: MOE

For overnight I have these flannel pads with inserts made by Lisa Janey- I can't remember her business name, but someone should know. These work great and come clean because the insert unfolds. They're also the softest most comfortable pad I've used and are long enough.

The light ones of these are great, too- very soft, don't bunch up and aren't bulky. Super comfy.

The maxi however is kind of bulky for me so I use a hemp AIO one I got off eBay- I think it is Cloth4Mom&baby. These are very slim for maxi days and work great. Not as soft, though.

I love MOE pads for day. Lunapads for night.

I my pads from Hidden Pearl Creations. Dana was so patient through my... ummm... pickiness (although I've got a different word for it) and they're sooo comfortable. I think she's even got packages now. Between that and my diva cup I kept forgetting about af this week.

I like TLC pads and Clothwear for Mom & Baby. I have one of the sampler packs from Diaperware - Inge has a great selection and good packages too.

Heehee... I think they're a way better pp option compared to my stylish mesh underwear the hospital graciously gave me. I think there may be a few gals here that actually have those, and really like them.
