i saw one in i think family circle knitting? anyway - it is very rustic looking with a leather tie. i want to try it even though it is an intermediate pattern - but i was wondering if anyone had a great poncho pattern - nothing frilly or girly.

thanks!

That's so funny -- I was just looking at poncho patterns. There's an easy one knit in the round at www.craftyarncouncil.com (look under project, quick to make) that I've done that turned out well.

My next poncho will be either http://www.berroco.com/193/193_phyllis.html or maybe http://squibnocket.worstjewever.com/...d-to-have.html.

I've also picked up the FC Easy Knitting and I might make one of those as well... decisions, decisions!

Happy knitting!

I'm writing one up now for myself. It's inspired byt eh poncho Reba McIntyre was wearing at the CMA awards. Dh thought I wasa f reak, cuase I sat there all night sketching her poncho and made him tape it so I could rewind and freeze frame on it, LOL! But of course, now a few months later I've seen them all over the stores, so I think it's a new trend.

I love to crochet ponchos-I made one for a swap that I so wanted to keep when it was done-that's the way it often works! I have done child size so far but want to do one for me this fall.
here's a site for crochet patterns if interested

Yes, I was looking at the one with the leather tie in Family circle Easy Knitting too! It just looks really really cool, I love the colours, and the leather tie. Were we not all talking about ponchos on another thread at one time? I'm toying with knitting myself one--I've never done anything big for me, just for everyone else!

I know what you mean -- DH and other assorted family members have these great knitted items, and the most I've ever made for myself was a scarf. Definitely time to make something for me!

Ohhh, I like these! Thanks! I think I am going to make a toddler poncho for my soon-to-be 2 year old. That will be perfect for our rare chilly days and school! And quick too!

Have you guys seen this? http://www.thedietdiary.com/knitting...choSlimHK.html It is a poncho generator! She has other ones too - for socks and sweaters and such. While not necessary, it is neat.

That green cotton one looks so kool, but the yarn is a little pricey (7.50 per skein and you need six). I will put it on my list, though. But I swear I'm not buying that yarn till I finish at least a couple of other projects... <<sigh>>
