We have a cat but she is completely an inside cat and about a week ago our house just erupted in fleas...everywhere. My daughter can't play on the floor for 5 minutes without being attacked. Is there anything that works? As soon as someone could answer would be great! You seem to know about ebevery thing so I figured I'd ask...

Thank you !

I wish I knew! We had terrible fleas last year. In the end, I had to give up and have my cats dosed with Frontline.
The only natural think I did was sweep about every day and wash sheets, etc. frequently. I think this cut down on the eggs and new crop of fleas, at least.
Good luck! I feel your pain!

We have had some luck with putting out pans of soapy water with a candle or light to attract the fleas to the pan and drown them. We also tried boric acid on the rugs. Sprinkle on, leave for and hour, vacuum up (be sure to empty the vacuum outside or dispose of the bag right away). Boric acid is not as toxic as most other pesticides. In order to help the animals, however, we have had to resort to frontline. I tried tto, lavendar, eucalyptus...we combed, bathed, clipped, and bathed some more. Nothing worked and they were miserable...c'est la vie

We use diatomaceous earth and a spray that has d-limonene in it which is a citrus oil pesticide that is very effective.

IME it is very hard to eliminate ALL fleas but you can really knock out much of the population with a combination technique using organics. It is a real pain and takes such time GRRRRRR.

I use to always have a flea issue from June to Oct. I had 3 indoor cats. The only thing that worked was frontline or advantage. I only put it on in June and it lasted to whole flea season. Now I have 1 cat and a bagless vacuum and haven't needed anything for the past 2 years. Another thing that works well are those flea lights with sticky pad under it. I used that when I needed the frontline stuff, not now, so I'm not sure if it is still made.

i read if you boil cut up lemons and let it sit out all night then douse the animal with it acts as a natural repellent. and sweet scent for fido!

i second the diatomaceous earth. we went to whole foods and bought something called Flea Away (i think that's what it was called). it was on the pet aisle. anyway, just put it on the cat and swept it into the rug. hope it works.

we absolutely will not put any of the otc or prescription flea stuff on her neck. too many stories about cats dying or getting really sick from that.

I tried every natural remedy under the sun including twice daily flea combings with lemon and herb potions. in the end i got some frontline for the pets and the flea problem was solved, we moved from CA, stopped using frontline and haven't had another flea episode since.
