Sorry, new at posting links, but these look cool and I was wondering if anyone had tried these? The quantity discount is nice, also.
Thanks!

a good friend of mine got these as a gift---they are SOOO nice and work great for sandwiches especially. they seemed like something very easy to make, if one were non-needle-challenged!

Unfortunately, they're vinyl-lined. I almost ordered some because they seem awesome. I talked with someone from the online store and he said he always wraps his food in a paper towel before using the wrap map so the food doesn't touch the vinyl.

yeah - I also just read this on the "anyone gone totally plastic free" thread that these cool items have vinyl, which is bad.

Here's a great alternative to plastic baggies, scroll down the page to view the whole assortment:

For sandwiches my dh & I have always just wrapped them in aluminum foil.

I saw something like that in the magic cabin catalog, but I didn't think it had vinyl.

Is that better than plastic? I thought that aluminum production was even worse for the environment (and I can't usually use aluminum foil more than once without ripping it).

The link to the Subarb cotton bags looks intriguing--anyone try these?

They seem pretty basic--wonder whether there is a similar product made in the US or Canada?

If so (or even if not), this might be a good idea for an MDC co-op...

oh yeah, another alternative to baggies: waxpaper or parchment paper, wrapped at a diagonal like they do at the deli and secured with a piece of masking tape.

If you're worried about sealing against odors or moisture, I have a few PUL bags that I got from a WAHM (in my case, LittleLily.com, great bags)--I bet you could custom-order bigger ones for this purpose.

A great idea for a co-op! I was just looking for something for our picnic lunches. Would a PUL bag work for this?
Thanks!

I have these amazing "plastic" bags in two sizes made of cellulose, so they are 100% biodegradable. I got my from realgoods/gaiaim. They no longer sell them, but I'm sure someone else does. THey work really well for sandwiches, storing leftover salad veggies, etc. I use them more than once if they haven't gotten wet.

What about plain old cloth napkins to wrap a sandwich in and cloth drawstring bags? That's all they used to use back in "the day".
