ok, I was talking to a cloth diaper-er I know IRL and I was really suprised she didn't choose to recycle. Especially because she orders online and buys new a lot (packaging). So I'm just curious how many cloth friendly parents opt out of recycling.

We recycle what we can - paper, some plastic, and glass. But our facility here doesn't take everything, so we can only recycle certain types. Others we have to throw out. It drives me nuts.

I recycle and even started taking my recycling to my parents house weekly after seeing that the trash man just dumped the recycling bin in with the trash one morning

Where we used to live our curb side only took a few things, I had to drive the rest to another facility. Of course it was only 20ish minutes and was on my way other places so I couldn't imagine not doing it.
Now we live practically next door to that same facility so I can take anything the curb-side men won't pick up.
I also find myself not buying anything that isn't accepted there :LOL

I marked when and where I think of it, but that isn't very accurate...I couldn't mark religiously because our recycling program sucks...though I found out that the new UU church we are going to offers a program once a month for stuff we can't do curbside, like reg paper and chipboard. Woohoo!!

That's awesome! I always hated that our curbside wouldn't do regular paper!
I know!! And the chipboard stuff...we don't usually have much of it, but when we have cereal or something I hate throwing it away!! Now I just have to find a spot in out tiny house to store the stuff up every month. :LOL

We don't have curbside so I have to take it. In fact my city doesn't even have trash we have to find a private company to do it. Anyhow, about twice a mos dh fills up the van and shelps it all off. He likes all the smiles he gets from the ladies there hehehe.

ACK- I was specifically wondering what other CLOTH DIAPERING mama's do- not just everyone.

*sigh*
Then I suggest you ask the question in the cloth diapering tribe thread in FYT:

http://mothering.com/discussions/sho...d.php?t=172391

Off topic posts, such as this, posted in Diapering will be moved to the proper forum.

sorry if I came off rude, that wasn't my intent...

ETA- I thought about asking there but I figured it would insight more defensiveness if it wasn't in the form of an anonymous poll.

We dont recycle but it drives me nuts!!!!!!! We live in an apt and they dont have a recycling service, Im thinking about complaining!!! I need to look into my own service! We are moving to a home in Dec. and that will be one of the first things I ask, wheres my recycling bin?
We do. We just moved to a new town and they pick it up, we dont even have to separate it, it all goes in one big bin.

At our other house we kept big computer boxes in the garage and we filled the recycling in there and then we had to bring it in. My dh liked bringing it in better cause he got money but I prefer them to just pick it up. LOL

I recycle everything! BUT, I never did in the States. It was too much of a PITA where we lived and to participate in the county recycling program, you had to pay monthly fees. So I didn't.
Here. it's mandatory, all the supplies are given to you, and there's a different dumpster for each segment -- glass, paper, plastics.

Oh. I cloth-diapered my daughter, too.

We do cloth diaper, and we recycle everything we possibly can! In fact, I am so bad that when we were visiting family in Ohio that doesn't recycle, I made dh put our water bottles and such in the car to bring back home and recyle. I also get so upset and cringe whenever I see someone throwing paper or cans, etc in the trash can!!!! To be honest, I think it should be illegal to throw away something that can be recycled, and I think that recycling should be made as easily accessable as possible (like curb side recycling).

Whoops--I shouldn't have voted since we're flexible w/diaper options.

I bet you'd have better luck if you mention CD ONLY in the title line or post it over there.
Good luck

Mine doesn't take everything either. They send out things saying how excited they are about adding new things that we can recycle and then later they send out things saying that they don't. It's very confusing. The people that I've talked to at the company are really rude and really don't know anything about recycling.

We've started huge piles of it in our garage that we're going to start taking to the big dump in the area that has a huge recycling center. Our country puts out nice little things with information on where to recycle what. I'm keeping a list so that we can take things in when we need to. I'm also going to be taking the master recycler class this next winter-yipee!

Hi,

I'm a newbie at posting but I've been reading you for a long time. Love this forum so much !!!

We have a great recycling system in our town and I use it as much as possible. DH is not to great at it but he let me go into the trash and pull out what can go in the recycling bin.
