not tried this personally but heard your best bet is to drench your hair, preferably with distilled water, before you go in the pool. this is to ensure your hair's already saturated & therefore it'll soak up less/none of the pool water. i'd probably oil it after i drenched it, then wind it in a good snug bun or braid.
i think i would wash after each exposure to chlorine but be sure to use something super gentle (like, no plain bs/water -- add lots of honey) and watch out for drying. a
conditioner-only wash still uses a commercial product but it might be easier on your hair as well as more convenient at the pool. bs mixes tend to get clumpy with time, but that's over a period of a week in my experience, it might work if you mixed it before leaving the house that day.
any way you can avoid getting your hair wet in the pool? (i know, i know, i couldn't either.)
