how do all the mamas feel about using only cpfs and wool soaker/wraps?

I love to knit and can crank out soakers relatively quickly. I have also sewn wool wraps out of old sweaters, so you can see where I'm going with this right? I love the idea of cpfs and wool, but I've read comments on what a pain it is to clean poo from wool. Do you think I could use a pf trifolded in a wool wrap...kind of like a wio, or am I just asking for trouble?

I love snappied CPF with a wool cover. A well folded & secured CPF will catch more poos than any fitted I have ever used. I have heard a lot of mamas say that trifolding is faster, but you need more covers because you almost always get poop on the cover. I guess it depends on how many covers you want to knit and how much you want to clean poo off of them.

Trifolding has never worked for me, but I bet if you don't have an explosive pooper, it could work just fine. I've been avoiding the whole WIO scene, just because nobody makes gusseted snap-ins. I KNOW I'm gonna need something with elastic in there, at the very least, or I'm going to have to be washing wool every day!
That said, I would bet prefolds & wool could work very well, so long as you fasten the diaper. I'd use the sidewall/jelly-roll fold & snappi or pin - for me, I'd rather take the time to pin than take the time to wash a cover all the time, wool or otherwise.

I love knitting soakers too. DH says we have way too many soakers (I say, never!) We use snappied prefolds and no problems. I trifold and then tuck the sides in (kind of like the sidewall method).

I would definitly reccomend a snappi or pins. If they are just folded in then there is a good chance poopy will get on the cover... and you don't want to be washing poopy covers every day. Not fun at all!

If you do pre-felted sweater covers, you can throw them in the wash & just re-lanolize them every 2nd or 3rd time. That's the only kind of wool I will use -- I can just see some $50 soaker sitting in a corner with poo on it cause I didn't want to hand wash it out...

mehndi mama -- I know a mama who may start selling gusseted snap-in inserts w/ wool covers soon... I got to pet the samples sent by the WAHM last week -- pretty awesome! PM me if you want me to lean on her for more info! :LOL BTW, are you the Fern & Faerie owner? I have a recycled bum sweater from there & am always drooling over the dipes...
