Free Hat Patterns?

I am looking for a free hat pattern. I want something fairly easy to knit. I want the style of the hat to be kind of like a beanie, maybe with a rolled edge, maybe a tassel on the top. But I don't want to have to buy a pattern.

ETA I guess I should have stated that I have 2ply yarn and it has to be a knit pattern... preferably using either size 4 or size 6 circular needles, or size 8 regular needles... geeze I am asking for a lot.

I'd love to try this too before starting something more complicated.

Will this work?

Roll-brim hat

Here's one with a tassel. You could probably make the first one and use the tassel directions from the second:

Rainbow Hat

(Edited because I can't spell tassel. )

Well it's for my son who is 7mos... would the small for that pattern work? I guess I need to measure his head.

Also, if you feel up to making a pattern and have a pic to show me what it should look like I will take that too.

We are moving to England in about a month.. hopefully. So I wanted to knit him a hat or two since he doesn't mind wearing hats and we hear it is pretty cold over there!

Ohhhh this one is really cute! Does it look too girly for my son? I wouldn't be using pink yarn of course! :LOL Also, any tips for how to make something like this bigger? It says for newborns, but he is almost 8mo.

Here you go! This one is tried-n-true. The instructions are for a 0-6 month hat and call for a size 7 needle; I used size 8 (US) DPNs and the same number of c/o sts and got a good result for my then-7 month old. The rolled brim style is very forgiving, too; you can roll it up more if the hat's a little big.

HTH! Have fun.

ETA: I didn't do the hearts pattern, but just used the numbers (c/o sts, length, etc.) and directions for decreasing. So don't be intimidated by the chart, unless of course you want to knit the hearts!
