Product name: Over the Shoulder Baby Holder

Brief description of product: Ring Sling with Padded rails

Store/Site of purchase: Ebay

Price: $25 (probably more new)

How long have you used this product? 1 month

Fit/Sizing: Size Medium

Performance: It is very easy to use once you get the hang of it, but DS and I both get really hot if I wear it for more than an hour. Also sometimes my back hurts after wearing it for a while. I cant imagine wearing it all day or anything.

Workmomship: It is made very well.

Customer Service/Communication:

Would you purchase this product again? Yes. I live in Florida where it is very hot but during the winter it would be easier to use or if I lived in a colder climate.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof -none

My take on the OSBH is that it's absolutely wonderful, VERY comfortable and what I'd say, 'snuggly'. My little girl loved it as an infant and I loved it too! Great for breastfeeding while doing whatever else and for falling asleep at night.

The only thing is during hot weather, it can be a bit too much
if on for awhile. I started using the New Native at the peak of summer a couple yrs ago and we still use it and love it.

(The OSBH can take up a lot of space when going places
and the New NAtive can fold up very easily in the diaper bag)

I often recommend the OSBH for Newborns and Infants!!
Again, it's extremely Comfy and Cuddly for you and the
baby 2

Product name: Over The Shoulder Baby Holder

Brief description of product: mass-produced, padded, closed-tail ring sling

Store/Site of purchase: rec'd as a hand me down

Price: n/a

How long have you used this product? off & on for 3 yrs. with my first child

Fit/Sizing: medium size, don't know if it was correct or not

Performance: Poor. If this sling had been the only one I'd known of, I never would have slung my second baby! The padding was bulky and awkward (I know padding is usually synonymous w/comfort in people's minds, but it was largely useless here), the rails were impossible to adjust to comfort or safety, the shoulder was huge, poofy and uncomfortable. And I'm sorry, but it looked goofy. Thank Maude I saw someone wearing a gorgeous Maya Wrap one day, which was my jumping-off point into the world of elegant, functional, comfortable slings. Also, I've heard from many parents that this type of sling turned them off babywearing for good.

Workmomship: factory-made

Customer Service/Communication: n/a

Would you purchase this product again? Never. I warn first-time babywearers away from them. I bite my lip and have quiet apoplectic fits when I see LLL leaders recommend them without mentioning all the other wonderful slings available.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof n/a

Product name: Over the Shoulder Baby Holder

Brief description of product: heavy padded ring sling

Store/Site of purchase: www.lalecheleague.org

Price:$40ish

How long have you used this product? 9yrs, have 3 of them

Fit/Sizing: Comes in 3 sizes which is very helpful, the padding in the rails makes the baby feel real secure

Performance: I would rec. their Extravagant Love sling line instead of their basic/standard line. The Extravagant one is better, softer, 100% cotton material than the basic ones.

Workmomship: great

Customer Service/Communication: Love the company and their stance not to sell out to stores and formual companies

Would you purchase this product again? YES

name: over the shoulder baby holder

brief description: padded ring sling

site of purchase: received as hand me down when I was pregnant, though the previous owners only used it maybe two or three times

how long used: from 2 week old baby until present (18 months, 27 lbs.) ... used it every day from 2 weeks until 8 months or so, then moved to backpack and ergo, but I still use it occasionally (maybe once every two weeks for a quick run into a store or walking around town)

Performance: Well, first of all I used this sling TONS. But I probably won't use it so much with my new baby now that I know there are other options and feel like it would be worth it to spend the money on something else. I just kind of accepted the annoying things about it and figured I just didn't know how to use a sling right. The padding is very awkward. Especially the shoulder pad .. it would always move around and just be uncomfortable, plus there's this little string tie thing there that I could never figure out the purpose of. The bars of padding in the body of the sling just seemed to get in the way. It was difficult to adjust, the rings didn't allow all that thick, padded material to move smoothly. I'd say it worked best when ds was tiny and I just put him on my front with his legs all curled up in the sling, but even then his head flopped around a lot. So basically I don't know what I would have done without a sling, but would much prefer a different kind of sling next time.

workmomship: mass produced, eh. It did rip on the shoulder when ds got to be around 20 lbs. It's still usable, but ...

purchase again? no

How long have you used this product? 4.5 years

Fit/Sizing: Sizing options helpful, but make it hard to share with DH. I bought a large when I was overweight, and it was not comfortable after I lost weight.

Performance: I used this sling for many years without any trouble. It was easy, in my opinion, to put baby in at any size. Down side is that wearing baby in back is practically impossible if you have even a hint of a boob, and padding is rather bulky than useful. I also found that, with a larger baby, either my arm would fall asleep or my back would hurt- however I adjusted it. It restrains the arm on which you wear it, as well, making it functional for walking around the mall or something, but not for doing housework.

Workmomship: fair-good. Mine sustained a tear within the first couple of months, but has otherwise held up through 3 babes.

Customer Service/Communication: I actually purchased this through my la leche league leader, so N/A

Would you purchase this product again? No, now that I know that there are so many other options, I would not. I am about to purchase another type of sling/wrap for #4. I will, however, hold on to OTSBH until I am through having children. It still has some life in it.

Additional Comments: I would not highly suggest buying this particular sling at full price. There are better choices out there. However, if you like the ring-style sling, this one is good enough for occasional use. I would say, if you saw one at a second-hand store or a friend offered to give you one, it might at least be worth trying out if you aren't sure of your preferances yet. Everyone likes a different style depending on their body type/style of use.

Product name: Over the Shoulder Baby Holder

Brief Description of Product: padded ring sling

Store/Site of purchase: Togs for Tots, local children's consignment shop (Silver Spring, MD area)

Price: $10

How long have you used this product? four months

Fit/Sizing: Very adjustable. Fits Dh and I both perfectly, and he's 6" taller and a lot heavier then I am.

Performance: I love this sling! It's comfortable, even when wearing it on long walks and/or long periods at a time. I think it's safe to assume our son finds it comfortable, too, because he sleeps and nurses in it all the time. It's very easy to use. My biggest thing was having a sling that I could easily get ds in and out of when I was by myself, and it is indeed easy to do that. It fits perfectly in our diaper bag. It's soft, not too hot, and easy to adjust. I'm really happy with it.

Workmomship: I think it's really well made. I bought it used, and we use it every day, and there isn't a single tear or flaw on it.

Customer Service/Communication: N/A...never talked to the OTSBH people, but the service at the store I bought it from is excellent.

Would you purchase this product again? Definitely! A few other moms I know have several slings, but I don't see a reason to buy any more because this one works so well for us.

Product name: Over the Shoulder Baby Holder

Brief Description of Product: padded ring sling

Store/Site of purchase: bought it from a LLL leader

Price: $40-ish

How long have you used this product? six and a half years

Fit/Sizing: Very adjustable. Fits great

Performance: I love it. I have worn it with all four of my children. It is incredibly versatile. They can be snuggled in front, can sit on the side, and can lay down very easily. When ds was 11 months old, we moved. I spent the day loading the moving van with him in the sling on my back (And I have large breasts) and it was very convenient and comfortable.

Workmomship: I think it's very well made. I've had my sling since March 2000, and it is JUST NOW starting to show wear. I also have one that I got used that I've had for five years that is still in pretty good shape.

Customer Service/Communication: N/A

Would you purchase this product again? I have many times for expectant moms.
