I wasnt really sure whether or not to post this here or in Activism since its where I saw the name of the book, but thought I would try here 1st...

I just finished reading a book called Back Rooms: Voices of the Illegal Abortion Era and found it very interesting.

I was hoping that someone could give me the names of a few other books that are along the same lines as the one above? I would really like to read more about that and there are so many books on this topic at Amazon that I just wasnt sure which ones to choose.

Thanks for any recommendations!

I'm reading The Fifties: A Women's Oral History by Brett Harvey, right now. It's not entirely focused on abortion, but there are some first hand accounts of "sympathetic doctors," back room procedures, and even self-inflicted knitting needles. I'm not done with it, but it's great so far.

Forbidden Grief: The Unspoken Pain of Abortion

sorry, I messed that one up. So this book by Dr. Theresa Burke examines some of the psychological effects of abortion that women experience. Dr. Burke is a counselor who found this undercurrent among many of her women patients and writes in a very informed, engaging style. I thought it brought some very important things to light.
