I went and got a blood pressure cuff this morning and have used it and found my blood pressure to be between 115/70 and 120/70, so I think part of it was just being at the doctors office. I'll make sure i write the numbers down and take in a weeks worth of readings for my next appointment. I feel much better today than I did yesterday.

protein shake recipie

Hi Lazuli,
I understand your stress etc. I too am planning a homebirth and as time gets closer (due 9/15) I worry that something will come up to change things! I'm also in IL, BTW, near Gurnee.
Anyway, regarding your need for more protein, you might like a recipie I got from my HB dr. It's worth 26 grams of protein and there's no meat involved! Three of these a day will take you to where you should be, between 80-100 grams of protein/day... not that I've ever had more than one/day! They're very filling.

*1 scoop natural flavor whey peptides protein powder
*2.5 tsp. Crystalline fructose (although this really isn't necessary)
*9 raw almonds OR 9 raw cashews OR 3 macadamia nuts OR 1.5 tsp. of natural peanut, almod, or cashew butter; or 1.5 tsp. pure 100% olive oil (not extra virgin)
*1 cup unsweetened fruit
*8 oz low fat milk OR unsweetend soymilk
*1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
*2 ice cubes
*(optional, for thickness & fiber) 1/2 tsp. apple pectin power

Put it all in a blender and blend it for 90 seconds.

Hope this helps.

I agree with JenINMPLS-Cucumbers, cucumbers, cucumbers!!!

1 a day lowered my friend's bp in pregnancy. She was able to even get off BP medicine.
