What do you use on your face? - Page 2

I alternate between the Oil Cleansing Method (when I have the time/energy) & homemade oatmeal-lavender scrub (when I'm feeling rushed or lazy). Oh and some nights just water. I like to spray a little rosewater (rose hydrosol) on, after whatever.

Up till maybe a year ago I would've said I absolutely had to have products too. I was using prescription stuff for my face. I tell people now that it's worth a try at treating your skin more gently.

Thanks for all the ideas!

What is the oil cleansing method?

How do you make a honey mask?

Can people say what their skin is like and how their regimine helps?

I have been looking for castor oil but can only find mineral oil. Is this the same thing?

I just bought this fab Sulfer soap that has been sooooo wonderful! After recently changing from my prescription acne meds to all herbs my face totally broke out but after starting to use the new soap it has soothed my skin so much and it feels great.

I used to see a great dermatologist before he retired and he told me to avoid moisturizers when I first started seeing him. Just that in itself made a huge difference in my skin.

Just today I tried using baking soda (made a wet paste by mixing in water) on my face, and it worked great. It exfoliated very gently and my face felt very clean, but not too dry or tight (although I did use moisturizer afterward out of habit). My skin is pretty normal/combo.

Anyone know of any homemade moisturizers? I'm a little intimidated by the idea of putting oil on my face. I'm interested in replacing my regular lotion though.

I decided to take the hippy plunge and do the oil cleansing method. Today is just day one but I am surprised and how good my skin feels. It is normally oily and prone to breakouts. It wasnt' any more oily after I washed it w/ oil this morning than it normally is.

We'll see what happens w/ the blemishes.

I have the same skin type. I started this a few days ago and was really surprised that my face didn't feel oily afterwards. I really felt like it cleansed my skin very well. I'm very interested in seeing how it works for breakouts in the coming weeks.

Sick of Face Routines

I am sick of trying tons of face routines and chemicals too. I have had skin problems since I was 12 and the only time i didn't break out was when I was preggo. I have tried it all Clinique, ProActive, etc. My face is super sensitive and it seems to break out constantly.
These are the only two things I have noticed:

My face breaks out tons more when I DON'T use moisturizer and
My friends with super blemish free faces use just water and a washcloth and an occassional mild cleanser.

Nature's Gate products are super mild and seem to work really great.

I find hope in the statement about clearing up at age 27, I'm that age now!!

Hi keeley,
Seriously try out the oil. You could go w/ a super light oil like almond oil or apricot kernal oil. I am loving how my face feels after doing the oil cleansing. I'm not putting any back on at the end and it just feels perfect, moisturized but not oily.
