non-plastic dishes - Page 2

I have no idea where you could find wood dishes now. My grandma had some wooden salad bowls she used every night. No clue how old they were or where she got them. She had to hand wash and dry them immediately after dinner. I don't remember her oiling them though.

We've got Corelle dishes. Those suckers last forever. My mom has some with the green flower edge that have got to be older than me, and she still uses them. We've dropped them on our linoleum floor more times than I can count. Ds can also toss them around and I won't get upset because I can go to the outlet store, Kmart, Walmart, Shopko, wherever to get a new one.

Plastic breaks down and those by-products are endocrine disrupters. Since I have a problem with chronic miscarriage due to low progesterone (endocrine hormone) I am trying to eliminate it from my life. At least as much as possible.

Thanks for all the ideas!

Camping gear splinters? OUCH!

I used to have a set of fairly expensive dishes that I got from Target a long time. They were totally covered in chips w/in just a few months. But, the last time I went dishes shopping I got mine from Big Lots for $1 for each piece and they're great! We've dropped them so many times in the sink, floor, on my garage floor, and on the counter and no break! The only time we broke one was when my partner accidentally set one on the stove top while it was on, snap right in half.
