Had a beautiful dream last night...

I dreamed that I was in labor at home. I could feel the contractions and everything. I was working to relax through them and just flow with them. It was so vivid, there was sunlight streaming through the windows. I think my DH was in the room with me being a support. I could see my belly rising and tightening with the contractions, just how I imagine it really does. It was so peaceful. When I think about it, my milk lets down.

I haven't ever experienced a natural labor or natural contractions. My first was an induction/epi because I didn't know any better. My second was c/s because she was breech although we had planned for an unmedicated birth. So I've never actually gone into labor and I feel like I've missed out on something important.

There was something very calming about the dream. It brought a sense of closure. I've had a hard time getting over the whole c/s experience and I think this dream helped me overcome those negative feelings a bit.

Thanks for letting me share!

It is wonderful that you've had such a healing dream. Dreams can be powerfully 'real' and it sounds like you feel that you've experienced labour this way. I find it so interesting that you let down when you think of your dream labour! Thats pretty profound.

Is it okay to share my dream about labour, too? I don't want to hijack your thread! Although I did have two full labours, both ended in C/S, and last night I dreamed that I was in labour again, the pain from impaction was terrible and I asked for a c/s, but then the health care person said "She's been born already!" I had my DD vaginally! Mind you when my baby was handed to me, in an envelope (!), she was flat and started to inflate when I nursed her!! : Apparently, not all dreams are as special as yours!

Thanks for sharing your dream! That does sound awesome!

Can I add mine?

I am due in a week, and I had a dream that ds and I were watching a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis. In the dream it was so calm and peaceful. I am hoping that it is a metaphor for what my birth will be like!

I love reading everyone's dreams!

I had one recently where the floor of our house was clear, and we were over water. There were two Orca whales, one was birthing and one was her support, and I watched the entire birth from inside my house, looking down through the floor. It was really beautiful!

My MW was excited to hear that I've had a whale dream-supposedly pretty common during pg!

How beautiful! I just read a book called "Becoming Butterflies" to my 3 year old and it has that whole metamorphosis in it. It's really a miracle in itself! What a neat dream!

MilkFairy - That's a great dream too!

wow ladies, your dreams sound wonderful. I've been having some interesting and calm dreams lately ( nothing to do with labour tho, sadly) and im glad for them. My best friend is having a baby soon and im going to be her labor coach. She's going natural and now hearing your stories of dreams im hoping that maybe i could dream a little dream of my own-- since my c-sections left me a little empty-like and wishing i could push those babies out. a healing dream would be nice!
Thankyou all for sharing.
