Birthing from Within

So I'm still reading this but I love this book and I wish this was the one book I had read before my first. It's so nice and conforting, and I really think the reinforcement of the idea that our bodies are built to do this is exactly what we need to hear and repeat over and over.

I plan on reccomending this over any of the Girlfriends guide, What to expect, etc. My first pg my Dh made me stop reading 'cause I was so sure I had ruined the baby...and I was never going to be able to have a natural birth. Thank goodness I had a wonderful doula...

Anyways...it also makes me really want a homebirth, although dh is wavering still. I think if I find a really good midwife he might be more convinced...

I love birthing from within and I'm planning to train as a Mentor in October. As a doula, I also recommend to my clients:
  • Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn (2002), by Simkin, Whalley & Keppler
  • Ina May's Guide to Childbirth
  • Anything from Penny Simkin
  • Anything from Dr. Sears
  • Anything from Sheila Kitzinger

I'm not sure how involved the trainings are, I won't attend a training until October but I can report back after that! I live in WA and the Co-Director of BFW lives here too. I would recommend visiting the website and emailing Palmer and asking your questions about the training.

Yes, I'm going to train through the author's program.
