? about babies born in the caul...

Both my kids were born in the caul but with DS (we had a hospital birth) the doctor broke the water before I finished pushing him out.

With DD we had an unexpected UC in our car and when her head came out it was still in the sac. We weren't sure what to do so we broke the sac before I pushed her out.

If you aren't having a water birth and your baby is born in the caul, so you actually have to break the sac? Or can you push the baby out and then break it? Did we do it right?

What I always heard about babies "born with a veil", is that they are magic!

you never have to break the sac really. eventually, because the membranes are connected to the placenta, the sac will break on it's own with the emergence of the baby. Most usually break as the baby's head and body rotates before the birth of the body.
