Signs

I was wondering if anyone put a sign regarding visitors on their door after their birth and what did it say?

I want to make one as our neighbors often come by on a regular basis (usually daily ) to borrow stuff or use the phone and I want to make it clear we only want family at our house at that time. I want our "babymoon" to be peaceful, not running up and down the stairs or dreading answering the door.

Thanks!

I think I'd make it sort of like a baby announcement (name, birthtime, vitals), and with the words Please Do Not Disturb Baby and Mama Sleeping! large across the bottom.

There is no rule you need to answer your door-especially with a new baby.

It also is not rude to answer in your pjs and politely explain that it's a time for family only.

Totally agree w/the above. This is your time. Do not worry about the neighbors. Do what you need to celebrate your new family, rest & be peaceful.

Maybe before you have the baby when they come over let them know you won't be available to help them once the baby is born, so they should make other plans.

Best wishes to you,

we live way out in the country so it wasn't an issue for us.

i'd put up a sign that says, "Please do not disturb our 'babymoon' - Mom and baby are resting" and leave a pad of paper and a pencil in case someone desperately wants to leave a note for you.

by the way congratulations to you, if your baby has been born by the time you read this!

nak...

Thanks for the suggestions

The sign doesn't seem to work (as in its being ignored) so we'll just peek to see who's there and answer the door accordingly. I has a c-section so I'm quite sore but at least DH can get up and down the stairs to the door.

Rest up & enjoy your little one.

congrats on your lil bundle!
hey-if they are rude enough not to read/heed the advice on your sign then feel no obligation to answer the door.
we put up a sign that said all visitors welcome as long as they bring something to eat or are willing to do some housework! :LOL that weeded out the slackers! :LOL

:LOL That's a good idea, myrhhmaid! Fortunately there've only been a few people by today but we didn't mind them coming.

BTW, we had a little girl named Shaylee. SHe's so precious and we just love her so much!! After posting I wondered if I mentioned that.
