a positive experience at our fair

It was actually a great day yesterday at our local fair! First off... I had my dd entered in the baby show (a light hearted baby contest of sorts) and not a single baby that was dressed like a baby pagent won! The baby in the class ahead of my dd was in overalls and a straw hat and my babe was in a sundress with a do-rag and barefoot (she took 2nd) the baby that won our class was in a t-shirt and blue jeans. It was so relieving to see that the idealism of dressing our children like adult prom queens is starting to disappear.

Then... I went to the parents pit stop (a lounge/changing station for parents and children). Keep in mind, I come from a town that the only people I've seen NIP are the people in my LLL meeting and there isn't that many of us there. Well, as I sat down in there to nurse my dd, I looked around and every single woman there breastfed!!! Now I think to myself, of course they did.... the bottle feeders didn't need a comfortable place to sit (because lord knows, I saw enough bottle proppers walking around). It was just neat to me to be with strangers (and a handful of girls from LLL) nursing our babies and striking up conversation, sharing a common bond. I was the only one there that CDs, but thats a whole other post :LOL

Doesn't it feel great?

Doesn't it feel great to commune with like minded mamas? It's so reassuring. It feels so good and comfortable to be with mamas who really understand.

And all that holding improves your child's IQ. Bottle proppers don't touch the child enough and they have lower IQs. A formula feeder can cuddle a child with the bottle every time, but too many don't. It's so sad. It's more important to get XYZ than to hold a child. Sigh. I hate how many children get the short shrift in this society.
