My neice is officially a future BFing mama!

OK, she's actually my DF's neice but darnit I claim her :LOL

Today DF and I were about to leave a family function (at which I breastfed numerous times) and his neice (who is 13 and absolutely in love with dd) was hanging around while I changed the baby and she says "Ya know, I used to think bottlefeeding was easiest, but after seeing you breastfeeding so much, I see how much easier it is." Then we listed off the different ways it was easier

There have been lots of other neat moments where I see a future AP mama in her...comments on homebirth and midwives while I was pregnant, on the baby's need to be near her parents, etc. Tomorrow I'm going to introduce her to slinging

How nice to have someone look up to you like that that you will have made a wonderful impact on her life.

I have a neice that is a lil overweight with large breast and wants to get a breast reduction and she just lost like 20 lbs and alot was in her breast area. I need to get ahold of her and talk to her about how if she has a reduction it may affect her ability to BF her children in her future and talk to her about how important this is because I know she wants to have children one day. My sister (who bf and ff) is to much of a dingbat to even think that far and agree;s that she should have a reduction ...

*GASP*, How DARE you talk about breastfeeding with a young teenager! That is highly innappropriate!!!! You should have told her all about the wonders of of formula feeding! That's the way a baby SHOULD be fed! Shame on you!

Ok, sorry, that was a joke. Just a little stab at the way a lot of people actually think. I think it's great that she has such an interest in it. It's even better that she has someone to give her CORRECT information so she can make an informed decision when the time comes. She's only 13 so you have plenty of time to teach her as much as she's willing to learn.

I can't wait until my baby is born next month so I can start nursing again(dd weaned herself at 13 months, , I guess she didn't like my milk when I was pregnant) and teach DD the RIGHT food to give a baby. Of course I will teach DS too, so that he can support his wife if he gets married.

I have an 8 year old sister that was asking me about breastfeeding and I told her everything she wanted to know about it. My dad and stepmom were happy because they were practically clueless, they grew up during the time that formula was thought to be better than breastmilk.

Girls like my neice are exactly why I take every opportunity to NIP, they need to have this kind of exposure. I'm sooo proud of her
