Rick James - RIP

A very controversial figure, but I was still sad to hear that he died at such a young age. I loved Dave Chappelle and Charlie Murphy's stories about him (although they were sick, I found them funny.)
Anyway, sad to think that he may have slipped back into drug use in the last few days of his life. I read somewhere that he was seen using cocain last week.

Yea, when he went thru that creepy sex scandal a decade ago, I didnt like him so much anymore. Yet his contribution to funk cannot be denied! I didnt know he was back on drugs......I heard he died in his sleep. But Im sure his past drug use contributed to his weakened heart/body.

Does anyone know how he died? Is that public info yet? I asked DH last night (we watch the VH1 Behind the Music on him) and he said they hadn't.

Anyway...it's sad that after everything he went through he finally got his life on track and it was cut short. Very sad.


On a little bit happier note...DH and I love Dave Chappelle and especially enjoy his Rick James skits.

They believe that it was from natural causes. They're doing an autopsy, though.

I heard it was natural causes, but that the family believes it was heart-related and that he was seen doing cocaine at a party the week he died. I hope that's not true, but I must say that he spoke and looked pretty messed up during the Chappelle Show interview.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug. Not in a good way either. Poor Mr. James and all of the people he's hurt along the way.
