Newbie sewer got a serger.. have ???

Ok so this is probably the most stupid ? ever but as I have never used a serger I have to ask. When I use my regular sewing machine, to finish off a seam I usually back stitch a few stitches to lock them. Do you do this with a serger and if so, how???

No. You just serge off and make a chain with the stitches. You can either use a small crochet hook to pull part of that chain through the serging or untangle then and tie them off so it doesn't unravel.

Depending what I'm working on, I'll serge one stitch past the end of the fabric, make sure the needles are up, tug slightly on the needle threads and flip over my fabric and serge back for an inch or so and then off the edge. (I also do the same at the beginning.)

However, if anybody was going to see the serging (like around the outside of dipes) I would do as LuvMy2Kidz suggested.
